a while back I posted my thoughts about FIBER COMM, a company I had the priveledge to work with out of Kentucky. With all the bad being said about contractors it is nice to say something good. Anyone that interpeted my thoughts as a negative were mistaken

What the h--- occured. I use to travel the country building CATV / Telephone. I had a great time and a lot of FUN. But now I'm older and things are changing. You have people out there doing spicing that dont even know how to climb a pole, more less hang strand. Then I see an ad saying they dont want a "Cable Dog" They want a "Cable Dawg" I,m confused about this matter. I,m sure one of my brothers will explain this to me. I first came in this business in 1983( Hurricane Alicia) rolling up wreck out @ $5 an hour. P.S.--- I've always considered myself a DOG.

I know where your coming from Sam, I used to work for an out fit where it didn't matter how good you were the trick to success with this out fit was if you swallowed, well I'm glad to say those days are over and I am with an out fit now that beleives in the old school, we have new guys that are coming on that get taught old school right out of the gate, you learn to climb, then chase a lasher off hooks and of course you NEVER give up a pole to anyone, we have full time flat bed crews and everyone is on production, no one puts up with a slacker here, we've got dogs and we have modivated pups, no politics and plenty of work,

Does anyone have any wrap information, I've seen a lot of guys that can look at a reel and tell you how much is on it but I can't, I've seen partial info here and there but can anyone point me in the right direction, I'm looking for info on Strand & Coax,,

Doug, do not beleive every thing you ear. The best way to find out how much cable is on the reel is to substrac the footage on the reel. Il is usally written in feet or meter. One more way is to count the warp and multiply this count by the circonference of the cable on the reel.

That's a WRAP!!! Doug, as far s I know the only formula for determining footage on the reel is to cut one piece of cable or strand off the reel so that it only goes around the reel once. Or take a piece of rope and wrap it around the reel once and measure the distance. OK? now all you do is multiply the length by the number ofwraps on the reel. If one wrap on the reel has like thirty coils of cable on the reel to complete the wrap and there is two wraps on the reel with eight feet length on the rope or cable you measured around the reel then it would be two wraps=60 coils and one coil is eight feet then we woule have 8ft. x 60coils=480ft on the reel. Remember each wrap is slightly less in length than the wrap before because the sixe of the coil is smaller the closer to the center you get. I hope I didn't just phuck you up real bad!!!

Come here, Sam. Come!!! No Sam, I know it is way to much detail forr me,too. You are a DAWG and should be damn proud to be one. The other type DOG gets a bone, WE get the GIRL!! Yes, CABLDAWGS are us. CABLEDOGS are what we should beat off our porches with a broom, Okay? I don't make this up but I have been trying to put all this together in my own mind, also. DAWGS, or DAWGZ is not spelled correctly and that also helps to we out all them edumacated pricks we all don't like two.
