Good one, Terry. Zorro, you truly are a complete fucking idiot. Richard Burton, how in the hell did you come up with that out of what I wrote? I just don't understand retainage. To me a company should be q.c.ing the work right behind the subs and therefore should be no need for it. Problem is most are too fucking cheap to hire a quality q.c. person, and many can't afford the retainage held on them, so they pass it on to their subs. Hell, the prime makes a hell of alot of money off their projects, much more than any sub, so like I said if you can't hang with the big dogs, stay on the porch. You have a hell of a day yourself there, buddy!

Yea, they wait 6 months to QC your work, this is after the door swappers and techs have slammed their ladders all over your work and then your out there for two weeks straightening out dog legs and loops, or the in house techs start playing with the levels, I get pissed just thinking about it

Gary Vest, you are absoultly right about retainage. I will not work for a contractor that holds retainage. If I was in a position to accept retainage I would be the Prime and they know that. Any Company that holds retainage is not worth their salt! Any Prime worth their salt should have the personal to QC the work when its invoice. If they dont then you are asking for it. But any contractor splicing cold plant(prime or sub) is asking to get it up the butt too.

I know retainage SUCKS! I understand why some co. use it. I have had some primes return it while others have made up reasons not to, or just refused to and would not say why.now that pisses me off! how ever if qc is done on dailys the next day there is no reason to hold retainage. you can weed out the hackers and riff raff. every one have a safe day.
