So it's Friday at 5:00 p.m. Just got informed that splicers dropped a tap and there are no contractors left in field to fix it, what's worse car hit a pole in way south county tying up in house buckets. wooo hooo! Now I'm waiting at a warehouse for an aerial crew to pick up the 2,000 or so feet of cable they need to get the car crash fixed and still have no contractors going to the dead tap. I got a question, any one of ya ever masturbate in your truck just for the hell of it?

Good afternoon all,Sff,I got to agree with you, thats the way I've always built it also, but I have seen it vary from system to system, sometimes you have a chief tech that wants it his way.I was in Colombia SC(EASMENT HEVEAN) I had an amp get gigged because I spliced it upside down, and flipped the mod so the can would open street side, their excuse was it might confuse the techs, same job I had an easment amp that could have been moved back 65ft to the power supply pole streetside, wouldn,t of made a rats budduddy difference on the amp,one feeder output to a terminating tap. Here is a pole located in a yard with 4 pitt bulls and long time residents, dog shit city,I couldn't convince the cheif tech to move it.Everything had to be just by the print. No wonder so many co.'s pulled off that job!! Some old dogs tend to think they know everything, when they should of have learned to keep their eyes open and their ear to the ground.I can see the tap in the middle of the loop, sounds like your talking about new build,if so tell them this old dog is (LAMO) SeeYa

Thank you Carl Frankenfield (hope I spelled it right)for your phone call,I posted nothing bad about him ,only the co. that he worked for .Protel, not them directly, hope you can follow this ,but some of their projects are fucked up like soup, not to say you can't make money working for them,as I made my best money ever for them, but you have to be able to deal with soup,as we discussed there money is good. But if You piss in MIKEYS cornflakes your gone.Anyway I just thought I'd share this with all.Old dog will check back later.

fokkin - if i interpret what you wrote correctly, you are right. on backfeed locations, the backfeed is the dominating factor on loop placement. now, if you have a tap on the 'express' (very few reasons to have a backfed cable without an express cable going to the amp) cable and a tap on the backfeed cable, BOTH cables need to have an output loop. ideally both loops should be on the same side. now, if you built 2 feeders (1 backfeed, 1 express) and put both loops on the output side (the backfed side) the backfed tap could be cut in correctly on that cables input side. now 4 the express cable is a bit trickier. some (most) systems DO NOT want an input loop on a tap. that leaves out putting both taps on the same side. now you have 2 choices. you can move the bug-nut away from the loops, hence the tap is WAY too far out on the strand for someone to be able to hit with hooks (ie...technician) OR cut the loop (express cable) and put the express tap in the backfed output loop, and move the express output loop to the backfeds input side of the pole creating 2 loops and 2 taps on BOTH sides of the pole. the latter is how I would do it. if i had to do it. which i dont believe i've had to do. at least not taps. the other way is to just move both loops fro 1 side to 1 loop per side AFTER each tap but again that is too far too reach off hooks (tech). i had 1 system tell me to 90 my power inserters, that i could'nt turn them around (there is no single signal direction way on PI's). know why? cause it would confuse their techs looking from the ground which way the signal was being fed. it takes all kinds in cable...and they're all here...
