Gary Vest, no Geo 95 is still the same. What happened was when the orginal catv was built they placed a guard arm above their strand and didnt remove the Telco guard arm because of drops off the arm. When we came thru the location there was 2 guard arms on the pole, one above telco one above catv. We where placing new strand and cable for a 2nd communication company (RCN). In order to be Geo 95 correct we had to pull both GA's. Both GA's where old so we wrecked both and placed a new one above the new plant. We also were paid to move all the drops from the arm to the strand. In San Francisco there were as many as 26 drops per pole and we were getting $20.00 a drop! Remember billing $600.00-800.00 a pole and that was not including the strand footage yet. Wow was that fun!!!!

Personally i think Q.C.should never make it to the Head end(ATT,COX,ETC.)because every comp I have ever worked for in my 13yrs exp.whether u were a sub or n-hse.There was a thing called a field supervisor who rode around in a flatbed r whatever the comp had for him to ride out and check your work everyday, markin up prints, knowin whats goin on.But know the field SUPER sits n a Nice f-250,wndows rlledup,a/c kikin on his celluar blowing much smoke up someones ass that could care less about u as much as the man on the moon just wanting you to get the wk done, not checkin to c if his crews need somtin or maybe RIDIN out everything thats been billed for so YOUR comp doesnt pay for somethin that aint there!!Thats were retain comes n but if you think about it the retain doesnt even strt to pay enough when ANYONE has to go back period,it SUCKS to go BACK,your losing MONEY!!!!So Q.C.has to start right w/ the people who hired them,n house, so when you got some guys WHO READ A BOOK 2 learn the specs you dont have to worry about that because your n house guy has already checked and cleared EVERYTHING,and Hopefully your n house Q.C.guy knows what the hell hes doin!Good PREVENATIVE measure!!Tell them guys to get out of there trk every now and then,Do somthin!!!!Tighten up every chance you get!!!

Hey Brett, not much in Maine, some ABS, WMCC has most of the work but I here CCI is sliding in, Dave told me he is the only one Adelphia is letting splice in Maine you know all the hackers the mountain has, we have our hands full over here provided we get some equipment, and my opinion concerning QC is that it starts before the a truck rolls on to a project, threw pre-construction meetings, clear up all the gray areas concerning the specifications on the project with the MSO personal in charge of that project, get in writing and signed off by the PM's, hold a pre-construction meeting with all personal that are going to be involved in the build and go over all details, give them all a copy of the signed off specs to keep on their trucks and have these personal also sign off stating that they have had all their questions answered and understand ALL specifications concerning this project, then go to work, the field supervisor should also be aware that it is his balls in the vise if the crews do not do the work correctly, bottom line, do your job asshole, I mean, field supervisor, that must mean your in charge of the field????, you do not hire some dumb f#*k ex-installer or splicer to ride construction, accountability is the key to a tight project in my opinion and so litle of it out there these days.
