kick-ass! well, construction of 'cable land railways' has started with the delivery of my utility contractors cable trailer w/cable roll! might as well make good use of this down time. i am building a 'g' scale or 'garden' railroad, with the theme on...you guessed it...cable tv in a cable community. the purpose of this r/r is to bring the supplies needed to build/splice/activate, and install cable tv, as well as the workers and passanger service bringing new families to 'cable land'. the initial mainline (what i have laid in track) is only 105' with the hopes that when outdoor construction begins this spring, i will have approximately 10x that. but i could use everyones help on some things. from time to time i might run ito a stumbling block or two that multiple heads would be better suited to figure the solutions. this is what i am having difficulty in locating/creating: linemen, ground hands, pole climbers (people w/hooks climbing), the scale of these trains is large, 1:29, however the offical scales are 1:20.3 at the biggest end, and 1:32 at the smallest. i am trying to keep everything as close to 1:29 as i can but i do have a small assortment of different scales. any ideas on what to do or where i might find things of this nature? my next biggest hurdle (and probably more important in my eyes) is scale model bucket trucks/vans. i have a custom built covered bridge that the train goes thru being delivered with 'cable land railways' above both openings and am planning on putting any contributers names, that assist in the planning/design/construction/problem solving stages, on the sides of the bridge. should be interesting. if anyone has anything to contribute it would be greatly appreciated. i can be reached at SplicerLife1@*****.com (anybody that has any splicing work may also contact me as 'cable land railways' will/does need operating capital!)

19 pieces an hour. I have averaged that and better on UG joint trench/new development projects with the peds & GRs set, tails marked and equip. built the night before. Blew by the splitters & some of the actives. You do what you gotta do at the end of a pay-period. Start off slow on next check.Long as it all fires up & passes QC.

Well i guess its time to let you know how i spliced 130+ pieces in 7 hours with a one hour break, first off (cblthmpr) i think thats your handle was the closest with brett averill runner up. goes like this, working in queens new york mid 80's the poleline was behind and allongside a large housing project, my first location was a 26'slack span,2 LE's, 2 DC's 2 Splitters, and 11 taps between both loops and equipment it took up the whole span. And thats with hooks and ladder. Basicly thats how the run went... A.M.COMMUNICATIONS TOM LADD (V.P.) ps and yes equipment was made up the day before.....

your funny bret! stop in chat on sunday! this railroad is real enough, i got the receipts to prove it. and it is an outdoor railway. the 105' of track is up and running in my basement untill the weather breaks and i can build an entire layout complete with real landscaping. these trains are cool as hell and i encourage you and everyone else to check them out in your hobby stores.

by the way its a great family activity as everyone loves to run/watch the trains. i'm small time but even with the few cars i do have, put all togeather along with my longest locomotive (which is 1" shy of being 2ft long) the entire train length is OVER 20ft long!!! i think its cool.
