I wonder how this years gonna turn out.AT&T selling out, Motorola/GI laying off,C-cor closing it's plant,Charter's major backers folding,Antec(Texscam) in trouble,no loss there, Galaxy letting systems go belly up.Makes one wonder.Glad I grew up laying brick and climbing towers. At least I know I have good cable work coming up. Just hoping with the big projects slowing down that I don't get my throat cut by some splicing refugee.Bet we havent seen low composite prices yet.I stay off those jobs as much as I can.I have always found that when they want down guys or VGR's or peds or whatever lumped on in one price, it's because theres way more than the usual amount to be done. You should get paid for everything you have to do, plain and simple.Bet the guy who comes up with those prices expects to get paid for everything he does and more. You would think that with everything being done on computers it would be easier to keep up with bonds and ground rods.Go figure.Ya'll have a safe week. You can't make some prick's yacht payment if your laid out at the bottom of a pole. Keep your eyes on the carrot and never trust anything that bleeds for a week and lives.

I'm not questioning ability. The math doesn't seem to add up, unless the quality isn't there. I'm not saying it's not possible, but 19 pieces an hr is screaming pretty good if you don't have any big pieces or run into any problems. I haven't come across a run yet where you didn't run into something that didn't cost you a minute or two.It sounds like alot of good luck. I'd like to have seen that check!

First of all I've worked with the best and second of all the only way anyone can get 19 pieces an hour or 78 pieces a day is if they're doing mdu's or they're doing nothing but terminating taps with all of the dog legs bent and the cable cored with someone else shrinking the boot for them. Lastly if someone can do 19 pieces an hour give me a call I got a job for you. Sounds like another "I'm a super Lineman Story" to me!!

not me! anyone that can splice 19 pieces an hour consistantly for 7-8 hours straight can stay away from me! unless your counting fittings, hth, terminators etc...or all the poles are 5' apart with 4-5 pieces per pole already built, bug nuts right, loops formed and so on, THEN i might start thinking its possible. doing wreckout i was hooking 60+ poles a day and that was street side. wreckout even. no time involved at all compared to splicing time. any splicer who says he spliced 19 pieces an hour for 8 hours really means he hacked in 4 or 5 pieces and let the magic pencil do the rest! or they are just a bold faced liar. take your pick. nobody's nose should get bent over this reply. it is just my opinion.
