(Gary),.....Seems Protel has a habit of doing this. You should have read more closely the Bar adds a while back, there was some talk of this posted there (protel).
Me and a few buddies got the same song & dance from one of protels guys a few years back. His name was Ely McKay. Drove 1,250 + miles to a "total SH*T" job, no pay, bad hotel, lies,..lies,..lies.
I guess birds of a feather......, Protel must know how to spot them. Well, at least we`re more the wiser !
Good luck to you on your future travels.

Hey Superman - I did try to get some feedback before I commited to them, but I guess it was during a spell where the people I needed the feedback from, were not logging on. Your right though, live and learn. Thanks.

Let me get some feedback here, fellas. A company offers you a sign on bonus of 3500.00 You go to work for them and they decide to give you half up front and the other half in 90 days. The 90 days comes, and goes, and you inquire about your money, and are told that now they want to wait 6 months. Then they tell you that they hear you are looking, so they just can't see living up to the initial deal anymore. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a sign on bonus something offered to someone to go to work for that company. Color me stupid, but I feel that if you take the job, you should be given the money promised to you whether you stick around after the agreed probationary period. I realize a company has to guard against someone taking the money and running, but when an individual pours themself into your project and proves themselves, then decides the company is not living up to their end and becomes unhappy, they should settle up and let that person go without making things any rougher than they already have. What do you say? This is exactly what Protel put me through. Have any of you had this happen? If so, what recourse did you take? Would appreciate any help I can get on this matter.

Oh, and one other situation I could use some opinions on. I was hired without having to take a drug screen. Once I made it known that I was disgusted with the way things transpired with this company, which was on a Friday, the next thing I know, I am getting a call about mid-day the following Monday and told I had to report to a clinic for a drug screen, within the hour. Well I did, and was clean, and nothing more was said, until I asked why out of the blue did they request it, and was told that there was a alleged rumor that the supervisors on this project were on drugs. Funny thing though, was no other supervisors were sent to the clinic with me. Pretty obvious, don't ya think? Is that legal? There was nothing in the company policies regarding drug screening and again, one wasn't required as pre-employment conditions. What do you think?

Hey Gary & Doug. Comscope put out a letter to mso's last year about contraction and expansion of QR. Adelphia, for one, heeded their advise and went to a double-loop system on spans over 150'. Some systems say over 200'.
It seems that the alloy composite in the sheath has exceptional expansion/contraction qualities. Basically, Comscope was just covering their ass. Also, due to the softness of the alloy material, jigging over one or two nineties, depending on length and package, will flaten the cable. If the splicers dont find it the reverse boys will. On my job, it came down to authorizing spices on runs, on a case by case basis. Better to have a splice than some flat cable. When dealing with QR, that's about what it comes down to. And why, I dont really know, but we also required mechanical bends on all , no mullens. (?) The jury is still out on single lash vs dual lash as to the expansion effects. Plus,we can no longer vibitory plow QR. Has to be open trench or bored. Hope this helps
