Hey Buddy! I will hook up with you the first weekend I am in Tennessee. I forget the town I am starting in, but I know it is in the Kingsport area. Charter job. Will only be about 2 1/2 hours from ya. Looking forward to it. Looks like I am going to be able to get moved back that way, and this time I'll stay there, by God! I'll do the road thing if needed but screw moving this far out, blinded by a bunch of empty promises!!! Lucky I am not of the violent type anymore. Better yet, lucky it was not my little bro! I'd hate to imagine what he'd do to this bunch! Oh well, live and learn. See ya soon! Tell Gypsy I said hey and I'll be looking forward to seeing ya all again. By the way, have you checked out this cabl chat thing yet? I have been seeing it come up alot. Everytime I have been in it, there's no one else in. Kind of a pain in the ass to get into the first time too. Well, later. Tell Jon VanLew I said hello.

Sounds good to me, Doug. Now that I am going to be back in a bucket, I can make some time to do things like that once in awhile. Management ties you down to where you can't take off, and if you do, you play catch up for two weeks when you get back.

Hey Superman. The name of the company is Protel. Guy by the name of Mike Keyser. Anyone condidering management with this company had better get it all in writing, and make sure you have him sign it when you do. He has a knack for pumping things up to appear more than they are. I was told I was to manage a project that we were the prime on, and when I got there, I found we only had the splicing and that was subbing for Time Warner Const. Division, who is the prime for AT&T in Corpus Christi. They were thinking they would pick up some fiber and u/g when they settled in, but there was no negotiations for such work. In short, I was promised I would make no less than 120,000 a year, with profit sharing and salary, which may have been feasible as a prime, but sure as hell not as just a splicing sub in 90% easement with 20 guys and three other splicing subs with a total of over 70 splicers gobbling away at it! I moved over 1500 miles, with my family, dragging my son to another high school, just to find that I was only going to be capable of making what I could of made staying right where I was at. Then I also find out that Protel was still in the baby stages of trying to become a turnkey contractor, paying all of the in-house hourly and salaried people without taking out taxes and making the simple mistakes on contract negotiations that only green bean subs make. A total three ring circus if there ever was one! Even had to use my own money and calling card to try to recruit splicers to a project they had no solid commitments from any splicers on. They did reimburse me on that, but there was that initial paranoia whether they would or wouldn't being I had no background with them. Anyway, anyone considering them had better do their homework first!

that last note just shows that even vets of the cable world get suckered in by the a$%holes. Just for the New folks to the business.

Cool, Gerald. I am no longer with Protel. Heading to Tenn. to splice. How is Virginia Beach? Reason I asked about Lennie is he stuffed his nose in my business and I was told that he was the reason Mike Keyser blocked you from coming to Corpus, so there must be some history there. You must have had an angel on your should, because Corpus has turned to shit. Four different splicing subs here, with over 70 splicers. You've been around long enough to know what that causes, run up on the power supply crews, fiber crews, material shortages, etc..... That and the average piece count for the guys we were running was no more than nine apiece, averaged 7 per, and as low as 5 per in some nodes! I am taking my ass back home to NC!!! That is where all the work seems to be. NC., TN., VA., and WV. Anyway, hope things are going good for ya. Later.
