I was never considered a "Lineman" persay in the 24 years I been in the biz or for that matter very good at contruction at all! But, I am VERY curious about this "weaving strand" thing! Did ya learn this from your gramma???? LOL

Joe Joe, what's materiel?, jp, your living proof! and Mark my whole family is in ironwork and demolition, I learned how to work with cable as a kid, and you were close, my grandfather taught me, strand has the same characteristics as cable only stiffer, you can still do a few weave tricks with it.

Doug, Just wanted you to know I was not serious about the gramma thing. I was just messin around.
Well, that sounds great if your that good at your work. Your probably the kind of construction lineman the CATV needs in the field!
I've alway been more into the technical end of the industry myself!
Okay, so now I guess I know what I'm buyin my gramma this year Strand Yarn !!!!! LOL Sorry couldn't risist!

Oh and splcr2, I had a guy come up to me in Macon Ga. once and say "I've been in strand for 17 years!!",and you know what I said, "you have got to be one stupid bastard!!" It doesn't matter how long you've been in, it's what you have learned along the way, I've met 20 year men that couldn't find a suck out if their lives depended on it, and 5 year men that are running major turn keys, it's like playing guitar, you either have it or you don't,( quote- Stevie Ray Von) and all of the lessons in the world aren't going to help,a problem I see now a days is that many of these( let's call them dumb fucks) work their way in to positions they know nothing about but play a good game of golf, and they live off the sweat of real men, parasitic in nature, look in any management heavy environment, they are the ones that always refer you to someone else to answer any question or they'll get back to you regarding the situation. Just because you don't know something it doesn't mean it can't be done,this only shows ignorance and arrogance on your part and even a weak mind in many cases. You should do your home work before you step into the ring.

cablevision of chicago taught us that same trick for emergency situations doug. looked it up in my training book(i had EXCELLANT teachers). thought it sounded familiar.

Time whiner,not a chance, they bubble gum too much, they'll put 2 straight splices in before replacing a span, and when the up grades all done, it won't pass road runner. yea Time Whiner, they are always stepping over a dollar to save a dime.Do you play golf??
