Thanks Joe and Xmod for the reply, its got so bad we hire'd a permiting contractor to help the Mso do thier permits, it still took almost a month to get back to work, and then the job gets shut down , it was part of merger that has not happened yet so they don't know who owns the system so niether side wants to cough up the three million to finish the job. Cable TV its not a job its an adventure, we can do it from the bottom of the trench to the top of the pole, drink all night and get up and do it again so all you rookies pay attention to us old line dawgs and learn.

to delash cable, take a rope with a "clip" on it (like a handline) and clip it to the strand, take lashing wire loose and pull the rope to the next pole. then it's nice to have a sharp pair of tin snips to cut the mess of wire loose.

permits??, how about fiber, anyone have any fiber, and then there's the revised design on the redesign, date and save your maps per day, or you'll be sending crews out for free, get everything in writing, the days of a hand shake are gone for ever.

It's all good gear these days, mag is easy to balance, the GI BTN Node in my opinion is the best node out there, I've seen them take some serious hits and seen them full of water and they just keep on tickin, SA is also reliable, they are high dollar though and they are a bitch to lug up a pole when there loaded and the reverse side is dc sensitive, Antec is the worst gear out there, they were called Tecscan (trash can) no one would buy the stuff so they changed the name, well gentlemen it's the same old whore, she's just wearing a new dress, poor mother boards, alot of cold soder problems,

It looks like the contract work force out there wants to point the finger at the mso's for all of these permitting problems we seem to be having these days. Granted, there are some in-house guys out there that don't earn their pay. I,ve been responsible for a lot of state, county, etc. permits for several years now...and it's not near as simple as it used to be. For example, a few years back we were asked to build 2.4 miles of new plant to service a new Illinois State Prison facility. Then the state hwy dept denied us easement along the state hwy to build to the state prison. We ended up buying `high dollar' easement from the railroad.

Permits are only the begining folks.Make sure the design house or the MSO stamps "Final Design" on the maps issued. Preliminary Designs some times can realy cause a mess.
