Good morning all,MIB#3 don't worry,I could care less.Today is my birthday.Short of Dieing it should be a good day.I am getting closer day by day to being back on the road again.Damn a boat, other than mine,I'll not work on any more after this time. For some reason you think back over your life time on the day you are born.I think of the first project I was ever on it was in Cinn. Ohio in 79,If you weren't a hook you didn't have a job.I still picture Ricky Spickett getting one pole ahead of me going down the street.I can see Wayne Blanchards newphew,Mike Lockhart, almost running up and down poles,I must say I have never in my life , ever seen anybody faster than Mike was.He could come down so fast he almost appeared to be falling.Man those were the days. Just a young pup, still wet behind the ears, thought you knew it all. When I started for ASI you got a base pay of 350.00 a week and 40.00 a day per deium. You had to hit a minimum of 16 sticks a day,to even work for the co.That meant 32 taps a day minimum. If you could not cut it they wouldn't keep you.I've never thanked the man that taught me to cut trunk.CHIT CHAT-EDWARD CACHET,thanks. In Cinn.at that time it was a dual cube system,I can remember having up to to 10 cables in a bundle, what a cluster f...in the air.At least I was priveldged to have learned it from someone good and not a hack.I think back to the worst injury I have ever seen from someone burning a stick. He had splinters almost as big as your little finger in his chest.I'll never hug a pole If I cut out.A lot of people ask me what I look for as a splicer,to make the best money.I'll tell everyone, street side with no dress up,no new drop fittings,no filters,no jumpers. If the old piece was in the middle of the pole or span that is where the new one goes back.Don't get me wrong here,It sounds like the work of a hack,no I just don't want to come and rebuild your system for chump change when you let a hack butcher it to begin with.If you know the right questions to ask,you can make Big money.I see so many co's in this industry that will hire almost anyone to try to get the job done.In all my years in cable I've only worked for one Co. that made sure you knew what you were doing before they turned you loose, and I still consider them one of the top co's today. They are employee owned, its Cable Constructors or CCI out of Iron Mtn.Michigan.I proud to say I know these guys, they are some of the best.Well its time to stop pecking on this plastic.I hope everybody has a great day and makes Big $$$$$$$$$44 See Ya

I remember Mike, climbed like a monkey, tried to race him on a pole in Atlantic Beach, and have the scars to prove it, ASI was a good starting point for a lot of us, I remember Wayne running around the motel at 3 in the morning with a 5th and that hawian shirt on chasing some split tail, any one remember Reggie Toskell? (not sure about the spelling on the last name) I've seen the guy pick up women in traffic, and then there's Ricky, you what killed Ricky, his heart, underneath that tough exterior was one of the kindest people I think I've ever met, and people took advantage of it, he came over to my place the day he caught Billy Butler putting the meat to Paige, now Ricky could have ripped this guy to pieces, but Billy was his friend,,,, that started a down ward journey that put him in the ground, I miss you Rick, there's a lot of us out there that will always look up to you, and I will see you again one day my friend, we'll talk about old times.

CCI might have been a good company at one time but they are really going to shit. I've worked in house for them on 2 separate occasions. They don't really train any new hires like they should. And AT&T has kicked them off alot of their projects. They hire too many hacks and they treat their employees like shit. (so I've heard from a couple guys that worked for them) Now I'm on a project that CCI got booted from AT&T. Just me and one other splicer eating it up. I guess when they need something done right they hire the best. (ha ha) Later all. Have a knee walking drunk weekend.
