What a morning! Just perfect, sun is bright, birds are singing, and I have the Allman Brothers, eat a peach in the c.d. player. W.S. sorry to hear about your flight. I hope you got home ok, I didn't hear you at the end of it. You broke up so I hung up. It's going to be a great weekend, and thats the way it looks from here!

Hey I got a question, I am a catv contractor and was hit with a strange bid over the weekend. I was approached about doing about 40 nodes worth of nothing but clean up. Some of it moving bugnuts, replacing bands, tightening strand clamps, just basically doing nothing but hitting every single pole in the town. If any of you can help me out, it would be appreciated, what do you think a good per pole price is for this. Keep in mind that this is nothing but crap clean up all the splicing is done and every single pole in every node has to be hit. Im thinking somewhere in the mid 20's.

Justcurious, It would be hard to bid on something like that, most people do clean up work on hours, then the company back charges who ever invoiced the work.

I think I would start as a per pole minimum. A clear definition would need to be in the contract as to what would constitute line item extras. If it isn't a line item, it won't be held to your responsibilities later. Then a detailed description of work performed at each pole, along with the pole number and print for reference to the invoice. All this because it sounds to me like they didn't document, QC, or do any of the better engineering practices common to better companies. This will protect you from running into a cluster of problems, and also show this company you are reputable and worthy of future contract considerations. It will help put their project back in line, so it is of mutual benefit.

Sounds like the same shit White Mtn. pulled in Myrtle Beach South Carolina,Time Winer, went back over a years worth of work and gigged everything,it was any little decrepency, such as things like port terminators, shit they ran out of ,because of poor planning, but yet they came back and gigged the prime, causing shit to run down hill to the contractor. They backcharged the contractor,20.00 per pole for "Bullshit",when it gets to this point its usually someone has pissed off someone in management, and they have an ax to grind.Don't know if I would care to get in the middle of it!! It usally ends up costing all concerened,If I were to take this type of offer,I would make sure it was drawn up by a cable attorney, and that everything had a line item price. The best thing I can tell you is cover your ass, because no body else will.Look before you leap still waters run deep.I've only got 22 yrs. in this bussiness, and the only thing I can tell you, you can count on is: tommorrow is a new day.The man you work for today may not be there tommorrow. I felt like hell going for gas once, but I wasn't using a bucket. Maybe I was getting gas for the bucket just outside of hell, I'm not sure. I just know that I couldn't pay because the mescaline had just kicked in and I thought that I had snakes in my pockets. can I have a bite of your sandwich?

THE PRICE FOR CLEAN UP IS USUALLY $10.00 PER GIG NOT PER POLE. SO YOU COULD REALLY MAKE MORE $ IF DONE THIS WAY
