oooops. i just went back through cement!? Dan are you in house or a sal. person for GDI I havent met a lot no, i havent met not one sub, hacker or real splicer that has any thing good to say about GDI. as for RON JONES, he is ok as a person if you dont work in cable or you wont work for GDI{he will try to get you to work for GDI if you dont already or havent,} but RON JONES is a GDI man forever. Co man. he will lie, cheat, and whatever it takes to keep himself and GDI in your pocket.I know this for a fact. I can give you a damn big list of damn great splicers who will tell you or any one else this same fact. the cable ind. would be beter of with out these and other cut throat mmmfffers like them. as many splicers as they have given the shaft how can you defend them. I know i could not sleep at night if i did. IM an honest, hard working man. the honest part would keep me from sleeping at night! just think, a cableworld without cut-throat, liers, theives, backstabers and the like! aaah! the promised land on earth.

WHITFIELD: I for one, wish you the best with your dream. I have been in cable since 1980.A freind of mine and my dads gave me a summer job on astrand crew.he said i would make a good lineman after about a weeks work.said i caught on quick.he put me to climbing and teaching me all he knew about cable. when he said i could learn nomore frome him and told me i needed to learn to splice. I said teach me. he could not,so he set me up with a freind of his whom was just like him. He taught you to do it RIGHT THE FIRST TIME: I was splicing trunk before i got out of high school.some may say im an old timer, some may not. all i know is ive seen it up,ive seen it down.I can live with that.but since i was taught by old school i have old school thoughts. Tell it like it is.be honest, dont be afraid to kick your shit of in the yard if you are getting screwed.or slug it out if you get a chance. I hope your dream comes true, that would stop all that crap. ALL YOU DAWGS HAVE A SAFE DAY! GOOD LUCK EVERY ONE OF YA!

Dear Dan where are you from? You sound like your from the backwoods brother. No need to go to South Carolina been there once for WMCC found that there was some really nice people there and there was some idiots there, much like yourself. It was the idiots that really make me not want to go back. Thanks for the invite though. If your ever up in the New England area though give me a call would love to meet you in person. Northeners might be able to give you a little lesson in manners boy.

Pretty sad thing to say Retro man but that's how the cable industry is full of backstabbers, liars, & cheaters. There are some really awesome lineman out there though, guy's that are a pleasure to work for and guy's that are a pleasure to turn on behind. It seems like those day's are diminishing though no one wants to work, no one cares what they're stuff looks like any more, just get it on. You sound like one of those guy's Retro, the industry needs more guy's like that. I was a retro and splicing supervisor for seven years and have seen just about everything. The thing I miss seeing though is honest guy's that work hard, seems they're all supervisor's now or own they're own company and don't care about the work they're 17 yr old drop out is doing. These are the types of guys that have to be thrown out of the industry so that us honest hard working guy's that can do more than 10 poles a day flawlessly will alway's have work. Good luck to all the hard workers.

SL4M, I know we have had our problems in the past (for what ever reason) But I do always believe in giving credit where credit is due, so here goes...
EVERYONE out there that has been SCREWED someway somehow by AT&T (which seems like everyone here) call & change your LONG DISTANCE PHONE CARRIER away from AT&T. Lets unite and start hitting them in there billfolds. Like I've said B4 they have as much right to come on here and read these postings as we do. It takes 1 family to make that change from AT&T to MCI, Sprint, etc. B4 you can have a 1,000 or a 1,000,000. We have seen evidence of how much 1 or 100 people can make a change, like in our last presidential election. I'm going as far as changing to Direct TV from AT&T Broadband. I'm also passing the word to all of my friends & relatives. Making sure that they let the AT&T people know why. Maybe I'm wasting my breath, but it will give me self-satisfaction. Thanks again for the great idea SL4M....

Onecableman I respectfully disagree. What will get construction going again is an increase in the stocks. ATT and all related telcom stocks are near 52 week lows. Dycom (Ervin, CCG, Fiber Cable, CableCom) and Mastec stocks are at lows. Orius (Channel, US Cable, Cablemasters) has delayed going public. I think a better solution would be to invest in the business. If you can't beat them join them!

Good Morning All,I am writing a tale of my time in Bremuda. It is an Island, seven hundred and some miles off the east coast of the US.The only way you can get there is by Plane or Boat.I went by plane,US Air,the Island people call it US Scare.(LOL)Bremuda is a 21 square mile island. When you approach, from the air ,at first it is a small dot in the Endless Ocean,as you get lower, you can see a maze of narrow winding roads, hundreds of boats, rock cliffs, rocks just protruding out of the ocean, and beaches. When you get off the plane and then you go through customs. Some one from the cable co. will be waiting, for you, on the other side.To work in this country, they first have to get you a work visa.Anyway, you get into a little car or small truck, left hand drive mind you.As you leave the airport, you are in awe of the beauty of this island.Your riding on the opposite side of the road from in the states. What a feeling, alot of the roadside, is limestone rock.As a matter of fact, the whole island is.A volcano erupted an formed Bremuda. If I have been told correctly,it was settled in the 1700's by the British, they used Irish slaves to carve all of the rock into roads and settle the island. This had to be a monunamental task.I can still remember, riding through this one spot where the road goes through a rock where the face must extend up some 150 ft.in the air,all of the houses ,are built from,Bremuda stone, slab floors, the walls are poured into a form like we do some basements and sub structures. The roofs are specially designed to catch, the rain water,it goes to a tank for a reverse osmosis process.I guess I didn't realize how I have missed this place until I started writing.I could probably write pages, instead I'll just touch on a few places.Horseshoe Bay,here is a spot that actually has natural "PINK" sand on its beach, its beautiful.Hamilton Parrish, the city of Hamilton, you have to go in a ride on the horse drawn carriages,St Georges, its like stepping back in time. There are so many things to do on this island, its incredible, the people also, help make the island,The seafood is unbeleiveable its so fresh, not processed,or frozen.Golf courses, ths island, is a golfers dream. You ought to see the Islanders trim a hedge with a macheti.Everything is so clean and manicured.I gotta stop.If you ever get over there, and you need a personal guide, call my friend Leo Trott jr.if he can't take you he will know someone who can.If you are looking for cable work on the island, call Bremuda Cable Vision you can get there # from information(441-###-####) ask to speak to Michael Jones tell him,I sent you.Maybe they will need some help. But be warned you don't want to take a cable job buy footage or piece rate, you can't block a road or driveway,if you do and someone wants by you have to move, sometimes two or three times to complete a task.I hope everybody enjoys there Saturday.See Ya
