Have another one for you, 3 guys go into a motel, they each pay $10.00 for a room, the owner gets thinking about this and seeings it's a Tuesday night, not much going on he figures he'll reduce the rate, he gives the bellhop $5.00 and instructs him to give it back to the 3 gentlemen, well the bellhop is going up over the stairs and this kid can't figure out how to split up a 5 dollars 3 ways so he gives each man back a dollar and sticks 2 in his pocket. So each man only paid 9 for a room and the bell hop pocketed 2. Well 3 times 9 is 27, plus 2 is 29, where did the dollar go?

No that was a legit clue, what makes an AGC fail hard? loosing your pilot. When you loose your pilot carrier the AGC's "fail hard" meaning they go wide open, your end result can be a real mess, one way of curing this is to set up a redundent AGC, years ago they used 2 carriers an AGC and an ASC, the channels were set say at 2 and 36, and the AGC's were in every other Amp, (for cost) now days they use 1 carrier and in most systems you have an AGC at every trunk location, to set up redundency you run 2 top carriers say 57,58 or 115 and 116 and you stagger them the first amp's AGC is at 58 the second at 57 the third at 58 and so on, if you loose either pilot the other will back it up, it's an old cascade trick, in the old systems with 2 carrier's they would use 2 and 36, 3 and 35. This is a redundent AGC set up.

Gary, I haven't heard or seen either one of them since NC, I'd have heard about it if those 2 stuck their heads out.
