I have great idea see if anyone out there can read.Get your local phone book look up OSHA They are usually in the Goverment section. Get someone to dial the phone and actually talk to an real live OSHA inspector I would hazzard a guess that he might actually know the answer to your questions. P.S. we just got a lanyard fine it was 750.00 Ive been doing this for a little while and have never seen a harness or lanyard fine exceed 1000.00 if any one has give the date, time, location and issueing department. They list all fines on the web.Otherwise go tell your cable fables somewhere else.

My crew was stopped by MOSHA(Maryland ocup.health & safty Admin.) and the man in the bucket did not have his body harness buckled or the lanyard attached to the boom (not the basket). This was the only violation he found after inspecting 10 of my crews working together on a long fiber run. I was fined $250.00 only because I immediately faxed them copies of documented safty meetings signed by that individual concerning that very issue.it was a small detail that saved me quite a few dollars. The fine would have been much higher, except that MOSHA considerd it to be totally the individual's non-compliance of a company documented safty procedure.(all the other lineman had thier harnesses and lanyards connected properly. I have had to many friends seriously injured and a few killed for not taking the time to apply the necessary safty practices. Take time to protect yourself and your family. -TC.

2 years ago, I got popped for no harness, my company got a $2500 fine. When it was all said and done, and all compliance done, final fine was 675. Plus a warning in my file. Guess who wears a harness CONSTANTLY!!! ;-)

I have spliced for BELL SOUTH BROADBAND and you could where shorts any time. When I was an IRON WORKER we had to take an OSHA class once a yearand then the plant that you worked in would give there own safety course it is just a way to get money that is how crooked the government is oh well.So all us splicers that climb have to where long sleeved shirts SPLICERLIFE why dont you go sit in one of those 8 hour classes and pay attention to what is being said about long sleeved shirts around a drill or a wedding ring but dont take it off just because some WHISTLE DICK who rides around looking to hassle the working man said so.THE HELL WITH OSHA.They have construction sewed up dont let them in cable. If BELL can do it so can cable.

you do have to wear long sleeve shirts and remove all jewelry long pants are required in most all construction. most states also use there own form of osha that can levy any fine up to and including shutting you down permantly and revocking your lic. to operate.this also does not mention that local cities and counties can put into effect there own rules. nevada states that you must carry up to 2 gallons of water per person, washington says you must carry a porta poty for every 1 to 10 people. so i guess every state has its own prioraty. maybe we found this weeks chat?

Good Morning all,a friend of mines old lady use to work for OSHA ,if they show up on your Job site 7out of 10, some one called in on you, to report you in violation, its usally a disgruntled employee.I have seen them get really bad on a job, after one person smarts off,it cost everybody in the area. Our opinions don't coun't,they will be the first to ask you how are you in business and you don't know the law.Trying to play stupid,or ignorant won't help either.I found that out the hard way. They feel it is our responsibility(which it is) to learn the laws that govern our safety set ups and proper procedures.I have seen more jobs shut down by the D.O.T. than anything else, they can be real pricks if you piss one of them off.I see people in set up violation of DOT codes every day.My best friend is the CDL examiner for the state dot here in this county.I can tell you any state worker has access to a man on the radio that can make life very unplesant for all,so stay on their good side.I hope everybody has a great Day and makes Big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$44 See Ya

After demonstrating training and compliance the fine was reduced to 1000. Theb theinspector asked us if we were hiring convertor collection agencies as he has started one OHH BOY!!! The lesson learned have your paperwork in shape and train your people and document it.

Dear Fag3, I mean mag 3 Maybe you should go elsewhere the fine was in the early 90's and it was issued to White Mtn. and it was in the amount of Three thousand dollars and it was issued in Woburn Massachusetts, to the employee Brett Averill. Any other questions Fag3? Didn't think so nice doing business with you know it all.

You do have a point there Shane, it's always puzzled me how Telephone workers get away with murder. Im from NH and I cant tell you how many times I've seen them on ladders without belts, in the buckets without harness's or hardhats, sometimes even shirts. Don't seem fair does it.

I agree with all of you, when I was an informant for competeing cable companies I used to spy on the other guys and call in all sorts of bullshit complaints to OSHA or, the Police. Making lives happier for everyone in the cable world is my favorite thing to do. Some may call me a 'RAT' but I'm just like the rest of you.. I just want to make money! Most of us 'OLD DAWGS' know what I'm talking about.. it's no secret. Show me a job sight and I'll show you a dozen violations... show me a job sight and I'll call in a dozen violations.. show me some money and I'll do anything to get it! Yes sir, I am "WHITFIELD"
