Jim,I just got home,I've read all you wrote.I believe you are the man that orignally E-mailed me.An old dog that I am proud to say I know you if only on here.We have now all become victims.On another Note I've got some stories for you'all(PAUL BECK this ones for you) I had the occasion to be in Tuscon last year this time,as a splicer,when I got there the job was totaly disorganised, I drove 4 days to get there to sit for two weeks before any work was ready to go.This co.that I was working for made so many mistakes that I finally blew a gasket and was asked to go to Dallas or corpis,I told them to shove it,I wasn't the guilty party,but got used by a supervisor.Now its tell a story time,there is so much to tell I'll have to break it into stories.If anyone is Knows where Paul is tell him I said he needs to read it.Its about the co.'s first mistake They hung the 3rd reel of fiber from the head end first.When in place it had an 800ft tail,they cut it off(LOL) then they hung the second,then the first,well guess what,the first one has a big highway crossing at its beginning,I 10 ,any way the duct is tight as hell,jug after jug of lube its still tight as hell ,196count fiber.they finally get it through to find out its 800 ft short.so the project mgr decides to pull it all back and figure 8 it all over the desert .It lays ther for two days before they go again,the delash 24,000 feet and hang it in rollers,remove all the storage loops and luckly it made it.I wonder how they covered that one up with the mother co.Yeah man thats who I want hanging my fiber.Tell Paul I wrote this,He is a good man.I am glad I finally found peace.I got alot more stories as I was there 11 weeks,All I got to say is "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND" See Ya

Being fairly new to the cable world I find that I am still learning, and probably have a great deal more to learn. Not just about cable however! When we were kids we all thought we would grow up to be a doctor or attorney and make a lot of money. We thought we would be a policeman or fireman and carry a gun or drive with the lights and siren going. Whatever it was, for each individual, there was at some point the idea of making alot of money. We were taught that to make alot of money we had to go to college and get a good job working for some big company. Those who wanted more money had to go to school longer and most likely get into medicine......... That's not the direction we on this site chose. This business is not full of people who sat in their third grade class and said, "when I grow up I want to be a cable tv contractor". At some point most of us got our first $1000 or $1500 paycheck and said, "this is all right", now I want more. After a while the paychecks are $2000, $2500 a week and we start to like the business we ended up in more and more. We are fortunate to have found our way here, and achieve the success that is possible in this business. Not many industries allow you to make the money that you can make in the cable tv industry. Certainly not without years and years of education and then years and years of student loans. We are in an industry where the earning potential is equal to other industries that require a great deal more education and professionalism and the the behavior of many on here is a direct reflection of that very fact. Now I don't think I'm "the Shit" as some on here have suggested. But I have been respected by those on every project I've ever been on, and thought of as a professional. I have an idea Mr. Whitfield, I bet that none of the professionals who visit this site wrote what we all saw on here last week. In fact it was probably done by those aliens that were sited about the same time it was all being put on here. You probably never considered that did you? Now that we have figured that out, and we're certain that nothing like that will happen again we can get on with less meaningful endevours. I think I liked it better on here when poeple talked about boats and fishing.......................

Thats the way I see it too Kent. I just wanted to protect my reputation, because I to realise how fortunate I am to be able to do what I love and make the kind of money we are able to make by working hard. And reputation is something just as valuable. I hold no hard feelings toward anyone on here,just wanted to clear my name.

I have a couple questions, first of all, now that I've dumped Charter for a dish, and dumped AT&T for Verizon, why is it every time I try to get in the pool to relax, or go out to work on the boat, the phone rings and it's Charter and AT&T sales people telling me what a valuable customer I am and what they'll do to get my business. When are they going to start working again? Second question, I'm burning some cd's for a party this weekend and was wondering if it would be ok to mix some Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett in with George Strait and Merle Haggard?

Glad to see its good on here again,I'll call this one the free list,it doesn't have a whole lot of meaning until the last story is told,This One goes out to Gary Vest because for the last year he has wondered why I kept talking nice about the co.that used "US" Gary was always right about them.This also takes place in the desert.Cactus are funny things in the hottest gruling enviroment they florish.In tuscon there are many varites.They have got pirepads ,you know what we call stickers in the east,these are the most prevelent,their everwhere.There is very little grass,yards are covered in pea gravel.Every day we had to remove cactus,for free mind you,"UNTIL" I'll get to that in a minute,Anyhow this one day I get this run .It was a sparcely populated sub divison.Man oh man you wouldn't belive the cactus on this run.We start driving it out,some peds are missing so I get out the wheel because I've got a new amp to put in where a tap ped is now,I couldn't see it so I wheeled it.Sure enough there it was.It took me and my men two truckloads of cactus,from the field 20 minutes each way,to the warehouse and back.Cactus of this kind have big stickers as well as ,these little fiber optic looking hair stickers,that fall off when you are loading them,they will eat you up.I go in and complain there is no line item price for cactus.I am told wait until the owner of the company gets in town on saturday.Me an their fiber splicer ran around together.So on saturday we go to meet the owner,He is not what I expected, I will say that.He seems to think the world operates according to him.I tell him of the cactus, his comment is pay him for tree trim,I guess he never liked me from that day,but the feelings mutual,anyway I answered thats not good enough,he says you will have to wait,until he can see if he can get more out of mother co. for it.I new that was bull shit because the clawse wasn't in the contract.I then informed him of my free list .It is where I put what I should be getting paid for.It has a limt of two grand,it gets close,I give you notice,it reaches it if you have not found some way to compensate me I'm gone.If I'm averaging 5g's a week how much money is that out of your pocket,to lose me .I'm the man that solves the problems in the field ask anybody that knows me.Told ya this one wouldn't make a whole lot of sense at this time, but it will,SeeYa

Dear Kent, I've found that when mixing c.d.'d that it pay's to consider the following: If your desire is to combine "cocktail" music, i.e. Mr. Sinatra and Mr. Bennett with Country artists such as Mr. Strait and Mr. Haggard, you must place an artist that would bring a significant contrast to the recording in order that you segue from the "cocktail" to the "country" in an exiciting and pleasing manner. May I suggest Insane Clown Posse with maybe some Limp Bizkit or Korn. Stay away from the offerings of Marilyn Manson as he tends to suck and leaves a greasy film all over your playback equipment.
