I see some people out there need to find a hobby or perhaps a continuing education class. Maybe the local high school or community college, wherever some of these people are working might offer classes.
I've been getting on here the last six months because it's the first time in eight years that I haven't been working. Even though it doesn't seem to help find any mapping work it is interesting to see the same people littering up this great idea. Thankfully this service is in place so at least it's a very small part of society that has to contend with such people.
It seems as though some people think cabl.com is their playground. This has been a very serious time for a lot of people. This is how I make my living, and have for going on ten years. I've been afforded a great lifestyle for some time, I've made good money, I've accumulated more toys and memories than I thought possible, and I've seen the country.
You see people on here attempting to use this service for what it was intended. Then you see the same BACKYARD SLUGGS playing games. You don't even have to name names because they know who they are. I guess if they didn't have this available to them they would be in some gas station restroom messing up the walls.
We've heard all the mud-slinging and bashing of people and companies but the fact is in my time in this industry I haven't met the dishonest people some refer to. I've been involved with thousands and thousands of miles of mapping with several companies and don't know of any body not getting paid. I've either been very lucky or maybe some of the shit on here is just that SHIT. Like the little boy who cried wolf. Or just maybe there is a reason some people don't get paid.
There is a company called Protel with several new postings on here recently. I've never heard of them but I responed to them today. Later in the day I did a search on them and saw all the opinions. One or two guys bashing the hell out of them for reasons that I'm sure no one will ever know the truth about. The bottom line is this seems to be a legitimate company. If any of the people on here who know how to spell have anything to add it might be useful. As for those multiple personalities we find on here all too often, maybe some day cabl.com will install a spell checker on this sight.

I think 1, this was my first time to put anything on here and probably this will be my last. Just thought I'd blow off some steam. Most of the time I don't say a whole lot, just try to enjoy my world. For some reason after watching this thing for a while I just felt like throwing my two cents worth in. I'll try to wait another six months before I litter up everybodys computer screen with my thoughts.

Kent: Im not trying to be a wiseass Im just curious. You have mapped for a long time but do you have any other experience in the cable field. What I mean is Most guys get there start in this biz installing or being a ground grunt. I hear a lot of mappers are out of work and I cant figure out why they wont go sighn an install contract or something. I remember having to new ditchwitches sitting and I was doing aerial cause there was no U/G. Im lucky to have a pretty good gig right now during the lean times so I cant complain. I guess what Im saying is I hope your not waiting for the mapping jobs to open up becouse you may have a long wait.

Kent, If your looking for work, try the contract section, no one posts employment in the wet cement. If you were referring to me in your disertation, the fact of the matter is,Yes I am between contracts, and sitting around the house is enough to drive me bonkers, so I have been using the cement as a form of entertainment as well as a source of information. I think everyone that uses this site knows that it is a public forum and it takes a new direction almost on a daily basis. There are some people who keep it serious, and some who choose to use it for just the oppisite. If you dont like whats being said, change the subject, We are all brothers/ sisters in the CATV industry and some one out here can relate with what you have to say, and thats what makes this site so neat. Personaly, I look forward to the next post... If I have misspelled any words SORRY.

Good morning all,Joe Blow, and Shane I'd be willing to bet your differences could be settled over a bottle of beer and a game of pool,as I feel certain your both good men. Before this year is over splicers, will be hens teeth again.Ken there is plenty of mapping out there ,for individuals, try going to the cable yellow pages, under the vendor index, pages 126 to 136 if I remember correctly, you can find a bunch of Co.'s listed there, try that. Also you denoted peoples spelling, you can use microsoft word, spell check it and encrypt here if you would like.It is my preference to continue to mis-spell words and miss a key every now and then,How many managers write their own letters, its usally dictated to the secretary and she takes care of it using spell check.I can also tell you that it is a proven fact that most genius's cannot spell, either.Mis-spelling has no bearing on a persons ability ,unless that falls under that persons job description. As far as our childish fighting on here, it to me demonstrates that the dawg has fight in him.(They are not willing to be bullied by anyone)I wouldn,t want anyone to work for me that would let some one kick shit in their face.People if you don't realize the people that do the labor to build systems are rough trade ,you need too. Most people I know that do the best jobs in construction are some hard ass men, that are about getting the job done.If they get injured on the job if its not life threatning we keep right on working. I guess as a mapper you don't understand rough trade. Not to put you down, but people in the mapping field that don't do their job properly are or should have to take more responsibility as it falls back on us when it gets to us in the real world and somebody dropped the ball, again I will say If you personally do a good job ,my hats off to you,and please let me personally welcome you to this site, any ones imput or output is always welcome as I don't know any one ,that knows it all "ONLY THOSE THAT THINK THEY DO!!"Hope everybody has a great day and you know the rest ,everbody make Big $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ See Ya
