nhbnj,I'm not sure I understand your problems,other than they are no different than any other large corporation,not just CATV,this includes ANY corp.Field sups dont want to get involved, and give the mngmnt.the idea that they cant do thier job. Paperwork has been shifted,modified,lost for years. This is NOT a uniqie situation you are in. Verbal changes in policy/procedure are the main back-up of the field supv.it is called "covering your ass" as long as it will not get someone hurt,rules have to broken to fit the situation,I have done it numerous times,,the only thing is I DOCUMENTED IT. The unions,,that is a can of worms. I belong to local operating engineers#104 because of the customer we are working for.(worldcom)otherwise,I would not belong to a union.I started in cable TV in 1977 and your situation existed back then.Understand,I'm not trying to bust your chops dude,you have a problem with the company you work for,and from the way it sounds,as long as you stay there,you will always have one.
