Well said. I think if you want to get into fiber splicing you are about ten years to late. Most of the prime contractors have employees doing all of the big money stuff.  As a subcontractor now, at best you can get all of their clean-up or if your lucky get to splice taps in rear easement plant where they only left 10" feet of slack to make the mid-span entry.
