thats the funny kinda truth! in the 1980s when i got into telecom and worked it for about 3 years, the catv companies wanted a peice of the action, that was short lived. the company i remember most was some looser called am communications they showed up with ladder trucks and cut a 1800 pair working cable. They had no clue and removed about 2000' it gets better it was a paper backbone that fed co to co. than in the 2004 range the contractors for the bell companies let them in again. The catv companies moved in did all the gravy and walked away from the jobs that pay little under units. There are suckers born daily and the tv industry is what created it.
