I can’t speak to the older versions, but a k plate or later will pass beyond 860. The question would be if the older housing is spec’ed for a higher bandwidth. 
The tj—p plug in is just a jumper. On the newer taps you can utilize plug in return attenuators, forward eqs or cable simulators and even high pass filters for the tap ports. Lots of flexibility with those, if you can get the parts. I do believe the BP does mean bypass. Not sure about sr. As stated below, the 23/29 is a spit tap or a window tap wth the forward level of a 29 tap but the return of a 23 tap. Those are becoming more prevalent in fiber deep and super high output designs, allowing for higher plant levels with normal tap levels without killing return levels for modems. 
As far as the older plates go, if they aren’t 860, you will notice it pretty quickly by running a sweep through them. Even if you pull a few and bench sweep them out of the field, it should be pretty clear where they start to roll off.
