Worked as lineman in California from 2001 to 2004.Lots of work there then,never made so much money,canadian dollar was around 65 cents.Had a buddy down there.His company had a few canucks.They wrote a bullshit sponsor letter and I got in as a scientific engineer on a TN visa Don't think you can get in without a sponsor..Cable is completly different down there.It's(or was)all piecework and no such thing as an 8hr day.Pay is same for lashing 1 cable or 4, easy runs or easement.Americans are the hardest workers I've seen,all about the dollar.Be cautious,lots of shady contractors there.
