Qualifications
Valid driver' license. High school diploma or equivalent. Technical trade schooling helpful but not required, Safety or any other training certificates.

Job Description
This position is responsible for gathering information in the field to support the design of telecommunication plant including aerial (poles) and underground. Plans and prepares drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing, overhead or underground lines, cables, and conduits to obtain optimum and economical utilization of communications facilities. Qualifications include experience in field mapping or outside plant inspection for any utility (water, electric, roads, gas, etc.)
OSP Field Engineering
• Travel to and from areas where plant will be built, performing mapping involving detailed notes and specifications.
• Review selection of route.
• Prepare detailed construction and installation drawings.
• Meet with Municipalities Right of Way agents to get approval to build telecommunications plant.
• Use GPS & other data gathering equipment
• Gather underground and aerial information to assist in the designing of the facilities.
OSP Field Construction Inspector
• Inspecting partial and completed work activity by field crews
• Inspecting partial and completed work activity by field crews
• Verifying unit quantities and installation to specifications
• Reporting daily completed work
• Utilizing electronic tablet to capture inspection data
• Requires civil, underground utility and safety experience
• Dependable/respectful transportation required
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements
• 70% of the job is outdoor work.
• Possible out of town; overnight travel, up to two weeks on the road;
• Required to gather data in the outdoors, walking, driving, and using mobile technology equipment;
• Withstand extreme outdoor temperatures and inclement weather;
• Drive long distances;
• Walk short distances;
• Perform various physical movements (such as twist/turn, stoop/bend, push/pull, crawl/kneel, etc.) without impediment;
• Perceive color as defined by the Inter Society Color Council-National Bureau of Standards system;
• Visual acuity to observe moving traffic;
• Carry 11 – 25 pounds over short distances;
• Remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time;
• Perform fine hand movements in the accurate use of drafting instruments;
• May be required to lift items weighing up to 125 pounds;
• Enter data into a computer terminal, PC, or other keyboard device requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand-eye movement;
• May be required to gather data in using mobile technology equipment.
• Knowledge of NESC
• General knowledge of OSP basic construction practices and safety requirements
• Basic knowledge in the OSP fielding standards.
