Qualifications
*Minimum of 4 years working with OSP/ISP network fiber splicing. *High school diploma or GED. *Must be 21 years or older. *Skilled in prepping, traying, and splicing new and existing stranded and ribbon fiber OSP and ISP. *Must be able to perform a mid-span prep with both ribbon and stranded cables. *Able to work with live cables on a daily basis.
Other Requirements
* *MS Office programs. *Able to operate a bucket truck and pull a splicing trailer. *Overnight travel.
Job Description
ISP/OSP network fiber splicing and testing for multiple customers and various networks throughout Texas.
Proficient with both single and mass fusion splice machines and using an OTDR for field work/troubleshooting/final testing (Fujikura and EXFO equipment experience is a plus.)
Strong troubleshooting skills utilized daily.
Read and interpret customers' documents and diagrams and complete daily reports.
Communicate via email and mobile phone and work well with a team.
Understand and troubleshoot various fiber architecture including DWDM, CWDM mux/splitters and equipment.
The position has physical requirements of lifting up to 75 pounds, sitting, standing, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time in all types of conditions.
Ability to accurately distinguish all 12 colors and various shades used in telecommunication systems.
Ability to safely and securely work aloft from platforms, telephone poles, ladders and bucket trucks.
