Job Description

Job Title: Telecom Lineman
Reports To: Construction Manager
Job Purpose:
ASG is looking for a solid Telecom Lineman. This position is responsible for managing General Contractors and employees performing the assigned Fiber Construction, including scheduling, project reporting and establishing due dates. The ideal candidate will have a background managing the pre-construction and construction phases of Fiber /OSP deployments serial and underground.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Primary responsibilities will include the following:
• Resolution of OSP Construction/Design issues.
• Interface with local Jurisdictions to ensure timely permitting.
• Managing General Contractors in pre-construction and construction activities
• Participating in project meetings and effectively support the overall project effort.
• Managing the project schedule to ensure the project milestones and deadlines are met.
• QA/QC - Inspecting and assure construction work quality and crew safety.
• Managing documenting and recording construction field changes. (Red line).
• Attending pre-construction walk, in progress site visits, punch walks and construction closeouts.
• Provide direction to general contractors when doing groundwork.

Qualifications:
• Three plus (5) years of telecommunications/wired construction experience
• Hands-on knowledge of Outside Plant Construction techniques (aerial & underground)
• Knowledge of fiber splicing and testing.
• Ability to interpret and understand fiber optic test results.
• Fiber installation, hub/node construction and related utility make-ready.
• Familiarity with construction drawings, test equipment and techniques for OTDR, Power Meter and testing.
• Familiarity with Rules for Overhead Electric Line Construction or Public Right of Way experience is preferred, and any small cell experience is a definite plus
• Experience related to aerial and below-ground fiber construction, node construction and related utility make-ready work.

Working Conditions:
• The work often requires that you drive utility vehicles and work outdoors.
• Must work under challenging weather conditions, such as in snow, wind, rain, and extreme heat and cold.
• Travel and weekend work may be required

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to work in aerial buckets that have a restriction of 300 pounds with PPE and tools.
• Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds including ability to carry, climb and operate extension ladder, (approx. 28 ft high and 75 pounds).
• Ability to work from heights up to 45’
