Job Description
Job Title: Locator
Report To:
Job Purpose: If you’re a highly motivated person who wants to work for a company that appreciates your knowledge and skills, we have a place for you. The position requires individual whose goal is to provide exceptional customer service.
This position requires: good communication and self-motivation skills; the ability to operate hand tools, trenchers and heavy equipment; the
ability to use a cable locator, hand test set, and other test equipment. Duties required of this position are varied, including, but not limited to:
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Utilizes the provided mapping tools and other location information, along with locating equipment, to locate underground utilities
including, but not limited to: electric and gas utilities telephone and other communication lines.
• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
• Mark the location of underground facilities on roadways, private property, and other locations, as appropriate and needed, using
required spray paints, flags and other equipment
• Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
• Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators and company personnel, regarding underground
facilities.
• Periodically remove and replace manhole lids, weighing between 100- and 300-pounds, using a manhole cover removal tool
• Perform outside plant route maintenance activities, of which includes digging holes for posts, running ground wires, placing ground rods,
and removing and replacing marker signs
• Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.
• Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed
• Accurately and consistently wear safety gear, and operate safety equipment, provided
• Communicates other relevant information to excavation personnel or other appropriate authorities.
Qualifications:

Working Conditions:
• Work in extreme and inclement weather conditions
• May require travel and some weekends.
• Transportation to out of town jobsites provided.
Physical Requirements
• This is a safety sensitive position.
• Able to crouch, kneel, reach, grasp, lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs.
• Climbing, sitting, standing, walking and driving for extended periods throughout work shift
