Fiber/Copper Splicer
Job Description:
The Fiber/Copper Splicer will be responsible for successful splicing and identifying cables, and making the right connections, to cable fault analysis.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must:
• Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in outside plant copper and fiber splicing.
• Have a working understanding of all aspects of splicing including construction, maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Have an ability to work safely, strictly follow safety guidelines working in the vicinity of power
• Have experience repairing and testing fiber and copper cables working:
o aloft using bucket trucks, ladders and by climbing poles,
o in confined spaces, and roadside entering tunnels, trenches or confined spaces.
• Have an ability to understand and operate test instruments including copper open/fault locators, meters, fiber OTDRs and light meters.
• Have a thorough understanding of color codes for fiber and copper.
• Have an ability to read and interpret prints for fiber and copper.
• Have an ability to work in live cable and do maintenance splicing at the customer’s request
• Be available for call outs and emergency restorations after hours including weekends and holidays as required.
• Be available for travel in and out of state; stays may be required.
o Work is located around Wheeling WV in the counites including but not limited to Marshall, Wetzel, and Tyler.
• Be able to pass a drug test, background check, and be a valid driver with minimal points
• Exposure to possible adverse weather conditions (rain, cold, snow, etc.).
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 lbs.
