Job Description

• Terminate, fusion splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures including both loose tube fiber and ribbon fiber up to an 288ct fiber cable.
• Maintains the security of the outside fiber plant (OSP) network, either aerial and/or underground throughout area of responsibility.
• Must be able to perform mid-sheath/ring cut/midspan entry on a cable without service interruption.
• Proficient in using fiber tools and fiber optic test equipment including traffic meters, fusion splicer, power meter, VFL and OTDR using EXFO Fast Reporter with IOLM Format
• Knowledge of applicable electronic equipment and specialty tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot damaged fiber, effectively and efficiently.
• Must ensure that both he/she and all employees comply with proper safety standards/ procedures and work practices according to OSHA standards, Future Infrastructure and/or the customer, whichever standard is higher.
• Ability to read, understand and update splice documentation and maps as required.
• Other fiber related duties may be assigned.
General Qualifications
• 1 -3 years fiber optic telecommunications experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams, basic computer skills, good verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, be able to identify between colors.
• Valid Driver’s License, acceptable driving record.
• High School Diploma or equivalency, Fiber Optic Certification Training preferred, but not required.
• Pre-Employment Drug Test & Background Check required.
• Must be able to travel/overnight stays as required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English, bi-lingual a plus.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
• Work indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat.
• Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, cleaning solutions
• Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of day or night.
• Work performed near power lines and electricity.
• Standing, Walking, Sitting, use of hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, speak or hear, taste and smell.
• Ability to lift to 30 pounds or more.
