OSP Engineer – MRE and PLA
Maverick Corporation is a full-service Engineering and Construction firm working in the telecommunications and electrical power sectors. Maverick is seeking a OSP Engineer to support our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in make ready engineering (MRE) and pole load analysis (PLA). As an OSP Engineer, your responsibilities are to observe and inspect utility poles and utility pole attachments using software like O-Calc and Pole Foreman. Your analysis includes reporting any potential safety hazards with a utility pole, like overloading, stress, structure issues, and clearance problems. The role will comprise of daily interactions with the engineering staff in matters relating to design engineering, field engineering, and permitting; it shall require the ability to operate in fast paced environment to collect required data as well as process/relay the information gathered.

Responsibilities:
• Perform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
• Ability to read and understand Utility Maps and related Pole records.
• A good understanding of joint pole new attachment permitting
• A working knowledge of all joint pole regulatory compliance requirements
• Utilization and knowledge of pole loading data entry information using O-Calc/Pole Foreman
• Provide technical support to design engineers, project managers and other team members

Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Engineering, GIS or other related field
• 1-3 years of MRE/PLA experience
• MUST have experience using Pole Foreman or O-Calc software
• Strong technical skills in MS Office
• Creative and analytical mind with a willingness to learn
• Must enjoy working in a fast paced, high-growth, and rapidly changing work environment
• Highly flexible in daily duties and level of responsibility
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol and background check requirements
