Qualifications

Minimum age 18yo. Drillers must have a valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a CDL within the first 90 days of employment due to driving heavy equipment, and a clean driving record. No experience necessary. Employer is willing to train employee. Applicant must be teachable, responsible, respectful, and communicative. They should be a team player, a problem-solver, a hard worker, and have a positive attitude and be willing and able to travel around Oregon to various job sites.

Other Requirements

Preferably a Directional Driller has knowledge of underground systems. They possess a practical mind and manual dexterity, and are able to work effectively with little to no supervision with an upbeat attitude. They are reliable individuals who are willing to learn new tasks, grow with the company, and take on various responsibilities. Drillers can adapt without complaint to a constantly changing environment. Drillers are expected to have reliable transportation to get to and from work.

Job Description

A full-time experienced Directional Drilling Technician efficiently undertakes a variety of drilling tasks ranging from fixing damages to installing conduits and running HVAC systems. Operating drilling and tracking equipment, mini excavators, pipe bursting equipment, plows, and vacuum excavation equipment for both residential and commercial jobs are the bulk of this position. Directional Drillers dig and back fill trenches by hand with a shovel, scout out, white-line, and map out jobs, maintain equipment and job sites, and fill-out and submit daily paperwork accurately and legibly. They must read locate marks and pothole for existing utilities to perform the job safely. Drillers decipher drawings to understand the best route and/or plan. A working knowledge of underground boring, fiber optic, cable drops, and/or locates helps with this task. Cutting, assembling and installing pipes and tubes with attention to existing infrastructure (e.g. electrical wiring) is required on job sites. Drillers may locate and repair issues in conduits, underground systems, or equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds of equipment such as bags of powder, steel rods, gasoline, etc. with assistance and/or with dolly. Drillers provide exceptional customer service over the phone and in person. They prepare their truck and trailer for the day by loading and unloading necessary pipe and equipment. Performing basic reading, arithmetic (measure), writing and oral skills to communicate with customers and office staff is routine.
