Job Description and Responsibilities:
Summary
The Certified Aerial Lineman under direct supervision of the Project Manager performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, and transmission facilities. Has complete understanding, knowledge, and understanding of aerial line work in telecommunication construction. Has ability to lead subordinates in a crew experience on the job.
The ideal Aerial Telecommunication Lineman will be responsible for new construction, repair and installation of fiber and copper lines and have experience working with the hanging of fiber/copper on power or telecommunication poles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Follow safety rules and practices (Wearing PPE, Set-up Work Zone, Proper Digging Techniques)
Ability to read cable, phone and fiber prints, Ability to read prints for accuracy and scope of work
Know the tooling for line work and how to use, adjust and calibrate them.
Install, upgrade and repair products
Fusion Fiber splicing and OTDR Testing a plus but not required
Run cable in buildings; lash and de-lash existing cable
Ability to perform all duties of aerial maintenance and line work
Install and remove various anchors systems (sidewalk arms, guy guards etc)
Ensures all installation work is done according to quality standards
Assist in the coordination between local utility companies when necessary
Assists with work overflow
Dig pits and trenches as necessary to complete the work.
Follows all company policy and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment
Understanding of emergency restoration protocols
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Three years of experience in coax, aerial, and fiber construction
Experience with installation and network upgrades a plus
Proficient in pole climbing and working from hooks/gaffs
Ability to climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 ft.
Must be able to work from heights from an elevated aerial device. (0’ to 80’)
Experience in Pole Transfer, all types
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of electrical principles
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
The ability to work outdoors in a diverse environment.
Must be able to lift 70 pounds
Must comply with OSHA related standards.
A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.
Must have a valid driver license (Will be required to drive a company vehicle safely as needed to get to each job site to perform work.)
Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment testing (motor vehicle, drug and background)
