We have an immediate need at Camp Merrill in GA. Another project in Yuma, AZ will begin approximately November 1. Other projects to follow.

Pay

Starting pay is $22/hour with per diem for jobs away from home location. Weekly pay schedule.

Qualifications

Able to operate multiple types of heavy motorized construction equipment including backhoes, trackhoes, excavators, loaders, graders, directional drills, trenching machines, rock saws, cable plows, and bulldozers. Must have a valid driver's license (CDL not required but is helpful). Willing to work four 10's (Mon-Thu).

Other Requirements

Must pass a pre-employment drug test and pass random drug tests during your employment. You must pass a background check in order to get on the military bases where we work. You must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. You must be willing to comply with all COVID-19 health guidelines including temperature taking before work and mask-wearing when necessary.

Job Description

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operate multiple types of heavy motorized construction equipment, including but not limited to, backhoes, trackhoes, excavators, loaders, graders, directional drills, trenching machines, rock saws, cable plows, bulldozers and similar machines to support a variety of operations in the Company’s performance of construction contracts.
Supervise construction laborers in the performance of their duties and responsibilities, including assistance in performing the laborers’ duties as necessary.
Use mobile communication devices to coordinate tasks and resources.
Maintain accurate logs and records.
Write routine reports and correspondence.
Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
Perform routine safety inspections and routine minor maintenance on equipment.
Able to work overtime, nights and weekends when required to meet construction schedules (very rarely).
Other tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of:
Operational characteristics and maintenance requirements of a variety of heavy power-driven equipment
Traffic laws, rules and regulations involved in heavy equipment operation
General knowledge of:
Methods and materials used in construction work
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices

LANGUAGE ABILITY (in English):
Able to read, interpret and follow drawings, blueprints and sketches.
Able to explain assignments to subordinates.
Listens and gets clarification when receiving assignments.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATH ABILITY:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Overall, the employee must be able to function adequately in an environment requiring heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
The employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.
Consistently at work and on time.
Observes safety and security procedures.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
Must possess a valid driver’s license (without restrictions as to use) for Class 1 – 6 vehicles up to 26,000 GVW. Class A CDL is helpful, but not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud on an intermittent basis.
The employee will occasionally enter into confined spaces (such as manholes, communications rooms, and other similar structures).
The employee will enter trenches and other excavated work areas, using ladders or other means of access/egress.
On occasion, the employee will work while on a scaffold, manlift, utility pole or other elevated work surface.
