Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalent. Valid Driver's license. Precise hand-eye coordination, Good Written and verbal communication skills. Clarity of vision 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Ability to identify and distinguish colors of utility flags and markings on the ground.

Other Requirements

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, and lifting up to 50lbs. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of the job.

Job Description

The UG Laborer, Operator, Telecommunication Foremans, and Class A CDL drivers, is responsible for preparing and cleaning construction sites, loading and unloading building materials to be used, operating equipment and machines, and helping craft workers with their duties. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.
Essential Functions for Laborer
1. Clean and prepare the construction site for work, removing debris and possible hazards.
2. Assist the tradesmen in completing their skilled task more effectively.
3. Identify utilities and watch dig crew dig to prevent utility hits.
4. Clean up and maintain equipment.
5. Restock trucks with supplies ensuring crews have the proper tools and supplies to complete the job.
6. Seed and straw.
7. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Essential Functions for Telecommunication Foremans
1. Obtain all necessary licenses, permits, and materials for each job
2. oversee, accomplish, and ensure all work quality related to each project and assume full responsibility for its standard and timeliness.
3. Coordinate and delegate daily tasks to crew members related to digging and placing product.
4. Gain entry to site buildings for work crew and call in utilities located at each project site.
5. Facilitate daily toolbox talks and weekly safety inspections to ensure the crews work safety.
6. Complete all paperwork in a timely manner.
7.Train new hires and trainees to learn the trade.
8. Track employee hours, turning them in on time.
9. Drive, haul, and/or operate equipment to/from job sites to assist crews in completion of work.
10. Keep the job(s) moving on time, clean up, and perform job restoration at the end of job.
11. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Essential Functions for Operators
1. Operate various construction equipment.
2. Perform safe, service, and minor repairs to machine (check oil and fluids).
3. Slope ditches and/or shore ditches and pits.
4. Load trucks in safe and accident free manner.
5. Observe pipe laying for safety purposes (cave-in)
6. Dig around all live utilities (Underground and overhead)
7. Maintain sub-grade, assists in set-up grade, and set up center line.
Essential Functions for Class A CDL Driver
In addition to driving
1. work in outdoor utility construction sites
2. Build and maintain aerial and underground cable systems
3. Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the field
4. Learn and Train to use various kinds of tools and equipment.
