Job Description

Boyd Connected Services is a family-owned and operated telecommunications contractor that has been in business since 1999. We proudly work year-round and are continually growing and looking to add skilled workers and supervisors to our team.

We are currently looking to add an Underground Utility Construction/Cable Installer to our team. Candidate must be capable of working in all temperatures, climates and weather conditions and be able to pass a background and drug screen. We offer competitive pay and an extensive benefits package.

An Underground Utility Construction/Cable Installer is expected to perform the following duties:

Responsibilities:

Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the work of site foreman, field crews and all on-site activities
Translate construction drawings and specifications into work in place in the field with the absolute highest degree of quality
Determine staff, training, and equipment needs
Determine methods of construction and a list of necessary materials and most efficient use of equipment
Responsibilities will include planning, directing, and coordinating the day to day operations for underground crews.
Supervising crews in Flagging traffic, setup safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers
Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations and policies
Prioritize tasks and provide concise instructions and appropriate feedback throughout the progress of construction to completion
Supervise the installation of underground telecommunications cabling. Prepare cable routes and feed cable through conduit.
Operate various equipment, machinery, and tools to install underground cable, fiber and placement of pedestals
Leading teams in variety of tasks involving manual labor such as digging holes and trenches, and working in extreme weather conditions
Track progress of all site work from planning to completion
When required and if appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the job site to complete daily work assignments.

Track progress of all site work from planning to completion
Identify, troubleshoot, and provide corrective recommendations with civil engineers and general contractors as problems are detected before they become major issues
Coordinate inspections with appropriate authorities
Develop and improve procedures to ensure maximization of Company resources
Communicate at all levels of the organization to ensure efficient and effective operations
Establish and enforce job discipline
Meet project goals within deadline and budget
Enforce schedule from the start of the project with early completion early as project goal.
Enforce the OSHA safety standards on site at all times
Review cost efficiency reports from past projects, be able to analyze the job cost reports and learn from past inefficiencies and become more efficient and profitable on future projects
Develop business relationships and networking contacts and assist with pursuit of new business opportunities
Maintain a positive attitude with team members.
Qualifications:

Must be able to pass a background check

Must be able to pass a drug test

Must be dependable and willing to work 40-50 hours per week as needed
Must have an excellent work ethic and team-oriented attitude
Advanced knowledge of the site and utility construction industry, such as site layout, site grading, excavation, above ground/underground utilities, and storm water drainage structures
Knowledge and ability to implement Federal and State regulations
Knowledge of following a budget, hiring personnel and supervision
Ability to understand and implement construction documents such as drawings, specifications, estimates, etc.
Manage most efficient use equipment and company assets
Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time while maintaining attention to detail
Strong business management and communication skills
Ability to provide project leadership
Ability to develop alternate methods of construction in the field producing more timely, higher quality and less costly construction
Ability to motivate teams to produce quality constructions with time frames and simultaneously manage several projects
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
Microsoft Outlook, Word, & Excel skills a plus
Experience as a Superintendent/QC
Valid driver's license required, CDL license preferred.
Capable of working in all temperatures and climates
Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
Work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat and other safety equipment as needed
Work in extreme weather conditions depending on geographical locations (below freezing to over 100 degrees)
Hours/Schedules are determined based on work location and customer needs and in compliance with any regulations; on average - must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. Weekend work/Overtime is dependent on workload.

Experience Required:

Knowledge of established buried/underground cable installation procedures and techniques.
