Major Duties
Classification: Non-Exempt, Bargaining
Using intermediate/advanced level of knowledge to perform all work functions related to the installation, service and maintenance of HFC/IPTV video, voice and/or data equipment and services from the Central Office and Cable TV Headend, to both Residential and Business customer premises. Platform for delivery of services include HFC (Cable TV/Coax), Copper and Fiber.
Responsibilities
• Under limited supervision, perform work involving the installation, service, maintenance and repair of both inside and outside plant,
video, voice and data communications services.
• Drive company vehicle to work site and/or other locations within servicing area.
• Present a positive, professional, and courteous image to our customers.
• Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment, in accordance with company policies.
• Adhere to industry specific, local, state and federal regulations, as applicable.
• Will participate in rotational “primary on call” responsibility, accepting and responding to after-hours customer trouble report and
installation requirements. Will be required to work overtime based on business needs. Will be required to respond during emergency
situations even when not on call.
• Using general knowledge, is proficient in the use of test equipment including but not limited to: JDSU - DSAM, HST, T-Berd and ONX,
Optical Power Meter, Volt/Ohm meter, Telephone Test Set, FEDs, Toners, OTDR/TDR, Underground Cable Locator, Laptops.
• Educate customer on proper use of equipment (set tops, cable modems, DTA’s, remotes, DSL modems, routers), services (video, voice
and data) literature (channel lineups, webmail, cloud services and how to access online help).
• Is certified to use ladders and bucket trucks.
• Will adhere to company safety policies and practices. Attends required safety and training classes, and maintains a satisfactory safety
record.
Qualifications
Technical/Professional Knowledge:
• Knowledge of equipment and steps related to the installation service and maintenance of video, voice, and/or data at customer sites.
• Customer service experience is a must.
• Set up/maintain/troubleshoot wired and wireless networks, TV’s, surround sounds, media players and gaming devices.
• Knowledge of internet speeds and technologies.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Must be able to read prints, maps, procedures and use hand/power tools.
• Proficiency with MS Office - Excel/Word/Visio/Outlook.
• Cadtel and StellaRad experience.
• Recognize all voice protocols, PRI, DTI, and Analog-trunking.
• Broadband Cable Technician, OSP HFC Cable TV or Cable TV Headend experience.
• A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record. A DOT physical will be required for technicians driving trucks that are over
10,001 GVW.
Education:
• Associates degree in Communications or Electronics is preferred plus 5 or more years of related experience.

Physical Demands:
• Significant time is spent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, and using ladders and other related equipment. Lifting up to
100 pounds, occasionally above shoulder required. Use of computers and computer-related equipment required. This position also
involves fine hand coordination. Must have the ability to access, input and retrieve information from the computer. Employees cannot
exceed the manufacturers' weight limitation for the equipment required to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Environmental Conditions:
• Work is split about equally between indoors, in air-conditioned/heated areas, with exposure to low noise levels; and outdoors in
conditions of possible extreme cold, heat or humidity; and in dusty, dirty conditions with inadequate lighting and cramped space.
Possible exposure to hazards such as electrical shock and falls and atmospheric conditions of fumes, dust, and odors.
