Job Description
This position requires an experienced driller with air hammer experience, responsible largely for drill operations but at times will perform a combination of duties to include operating heavy construction equipment and performing some manual, physical labor tasks at construction sites for trenching, core drilling, boring, cable locating and pulling underground fiber optic cabling.
Essential Functions
• Operate construction equipment safely in a variety of urban and rural areas
• Perform cable and utility locating duties
• Perform site restoration work
• Must comply with all safety requirements and participate in annual required safety training
• Safely load equipment, secure load, transport and unload construction equipment
• Perform physical labor tasks not limited to potholing, digging with shovels, operating vac machines and loading and unloading materials
Essential Requirements
• High School Diploma or the equivalent in knowledge and training required
• 3 plus years of construction equipment operator experience required
• Commercial driver’s license (CDL, Class A) required
• Experience in operating directional boring drills in rock environment
• Ability to read instructions and take work direction verbally and in writing
• Ability to calculate units of measure using mathematical skills
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
• Must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass background check
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug testing
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, climbing and bending. Occasional walking, kneeling and crawling is required. Close, peripheral and distant visual abilities are needed including depth perception. Requires ability to lift arms above shoulders. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds. The work environment is frequently loud and requires the employee to work in a variety of weather elements including extreme cold and heat.
