Fixed Wireless Field Engineer

Job Description

Maintain and improve the capacity and integrity of Midco’s regional fixed wireless network.

Preferred candidate will be located in Cold Spring, may be located within Cambridge TOC. Relocation may be available!

KEY FUNCTIONS:

Maintain, repair, and upgrade the capacity and integrity of the regional fixed wireless network.
Create and implement action plans to develop, troubleshoot, and improve the network.
Maintain the vertical assets, Headend, fiber, and power supply of the network.
Read, communicate, and contribute to system designs and network plans.
Comprehend, and utilize cable system maps and plans.
Oversee activities of service, maintenance, and construction impacting the network.
Test and review system designs and configuration; coordinate efforts with team members.
Ensure that technical specifications meet service, regulatory, and franchise standards.
Operate and drive a Company vehicle in accordance with Midco’s “Use of Vehicle for Company Business” policy.
Possess knowledge of Midco’s safety program (Target Zero), practice and enforce safety rules and procedures; operate all equipment in a safe manner.
Produce and maintain timely and accurate documentation.
Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
Adhere to Midco privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.

Mentor new hires as required.
Demonstrate technical proficiency in several areas of the field.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree in electronics or related field preferred.
Three to five years of experience in the fixed wireless or telecommunications field.
Successfully complete and obtain Tower Climbing Certification. Consistently apply Tower Climbing principles in all aspects of work.
Working knowledge of construction, the National Electrical Code, OSHA regulations, state and local regulations, general safety standards, and the entire telecommunications system configuration.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 70 lbs.
Must be able to climb heights up to 500 feet and perform physically demanding tasks at such heights. Must be able to frequently climb a ladder and work in an elevated position with proper equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
Must be able to distinguish between separate colors.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation and vibration.
Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
Must be able to work from elevated heights and in tight spaces such as attics and crawlspaces.
