Piece rate as W-2 or 1099. As always, depending on experience. Nothing less than 1.75/point with growth potential if you’re the kind of tech people admire.

Really clean license, realistically clean criminal history (no one’s perfect but manslaughter might be an issue)
Other Requirements
You would require your own pedigree install basics such as crimpers, strippers. Would need your own meter (not a 3.1) but at a later date.
Job Description
This isn’t for Spectrum or Comcast. I am looking for a higher caliber tech. One that obviously cares about their quality of work but understands that this isn’t the job with a 401k if you don’t set it up yourself. A tech that can balance the quality of work, timeframes (2 and 3hr Windows), manage to make themselves some points and ignore the impossible customers enough to smile and wave anyways (this area is the best for quality customers in my opinion).
This is a solid area with a really decent company. It’s a pretty straight forward job where you only get backcharged because you were wrong; not because the equipment is awful. And you really have to mess up. We aren’t begging for bodies, we want the guys that still love this type of work and are willing to do the right thing without us having to hear that famous cable guy line “I forgot” once a week. No one’s perfect, but if you are, it’s worth it to be perfect here. If you’re pretty close, you’ll have a good job without having to worry about the payouts changing for less.
If you’re an awful motor vehicle operator with accidents or excessive tickets/points, you will not be eligible for a company vehicle.
Overall, it’s a well rounded job here and you have to be, too. 90% of the techs left in this business (nationally) are flat-out not that great. If you’re the 10% that’s proud of what you do and know you’re doing it right; understand the benefits and struggles of this business, you’ll succeed here just fine. If you don’t know everything but you strive to do the right thing, can run an outlet like Leonardo DaVinci and fully grasp the concept of cable, we can fill in the gaps and teach you.
