Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:
Direct and manage all regional construction activity. Serve as Midco’s professional representative when interacting with the public.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
• Lead, develop, and manage a construction team capable of carrying out the essential elements of company and departmental strategy, standards, policies, and procedures; set attainable goals.
• Oversee all aspects of the day to day management of construction projects while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Manage all permits, certifications, regulations, and compliance affecting construction.
• Manage all new and maintenance construction (including house moves) within the regional network.
• Design or review proposed designs of all construction projects ensuring appropriateness to required function and/or standards, and initiate revisions where appropriate to achieve desired results.
• Oversee construction equipment usage and maintenance to ensure that all equipment is in constant operating order and used safely.
• Maintain current, valid driver’s license and good to excellent driving record (DUI within the last 5 years disqualifies you for employment in this position).
• Drive Company vehicles safely, courteously, and defensively; schedule appropriate maintenance as required.
• Compile timely and accurate comprehensive reports as requested.
• Adhere to and possess a working knowledge of all employment processes as it relates to all phases of employment.
• Interview candidates for open positions being mindful of EEO laws and company policies and procedures.
• Function as an effective team leader by developing and directing staff and by carrying out the essential elements of company and departmental strategy, standards, policies and procedures, and by creating a positive work environment.
• Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
• Adhere to Midco’s privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
• Maintain regular attendance to be available to provide direction and communication to team members.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform duties of construction staff if needed.
• Effectively communicate with other departments and service providers and vendors to handle any escalating issues in a timely manner.
• Function as an effective team member while supporting the efforts and strategies, initiatives and projects of other departments.

• Apply personal ethics, honesty, initiative, flexibility, responsibility, and confidentiality in all areas of responsibility.

• Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s Degree and or equivalent experience preferred.
• NCTI Installer and Installer Technician certifications preferred.
• Five years (minimum) experience in either the construction or telecommunications industries.
• Working knowledge of aerial and underground construction principles and standards, the National Electrical Code, OSHA regulations, state and local regulations and general safety standards.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 84 lbs.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
• May be required to climb poles (with proper equipment), ladders, and other structures as necessary.
• May be required to work within limited confines, such as crawl spaces as needed.
• Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
• Must be able to climb poles, ladders, and other structures with proper equipment.
• Must be able to work from elevated heights and in tight spaces such as attics and crawlspaces..
