Driver Licences, High School Diploma, Drug Free Work Place, Physical and Drug Testing required.

This position requires working in all types of weather and work environments. The individual in this position is required to work at heights of twenty-five (25) to thirty (30) above ground on a ladder or in an aerial lift vehicle including scissors lifts and bucket trucks. This position cannot have an employee with a fear of heights. Correct operation and utilization of various electronic fiber optic test sets and fusion splicing equipment is critical for this position. Experience in the operation of this equipment is preferred. If the person is not experience in this equipment, then the person must also be capable and willing to attend training sessions and perform on the job training for this type of equipment. This position requires that all DOT requirements are met when driving a vehicle. The vehicle may be a van or bucket truck. The driver of these vehicles are responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is maintained and must ensure that all fluid levels, tire pressure and other vehicle equipment is monitored for working condition. A pre-trip and post-trip inspection is required to be performed by the driver of a vehicle each day. The technician must complete material and production reports for their daily work completions. Confined space work sites are part of this work. The technician must be trained and utilize all OSHA Confined Space practices. All technicians must wear all PPE when working on a job site. It is mandatory for all technicians to attend all Safety Meetings and Training sessions. Vehicle and pedestrian work area protection will be performed by the technician when setting up a work site. The work area protection is required in hallways of buildings, doorway entrances, parking lots, streets and sidewalks. The work for this position includes opening fiber optic cables, installing fiber optic closures, mounting fiber optic cabinets, splicing fiber optic strands, testing fiber optic strands, installing building cabling, splicing in confined spaces, buried pedestals/closures, manholes and on utility poles.
