Job Description
• OSP Backbone build
• Must be able to blow 1728, 864, or smaller count fiber over spans
• Fiber is dry (no gel), ribbonized, dielectric cable ranging from 96 to 1728, with the bulk being 432 and 864. Vaults are generally 1,000 feet apart; spans may be over uneven terrain, pulling 600# breakaway.
• Fiber placement crews are expected to install tracer wire.
• Underground only.
• Fiber pullers have tried over this terrain and generally are unsuccessful. Preference is for crews blowing fiber via compressor.
• Work is intermittent at this point (e.g. one week a month), but the pace will increase as the build progresses.
