Qualifications

MUST HAVE EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE UNDERGROUND INDUSTRY AND GOOD REPUTATION. FULL KNOWLEDGE OF PLOW AND BORE IN ADDITION TO TRENCH. ROCK EXPERIENCE PREFERRED. WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF AERIAL ALSO PREFERRED.

Job Description

This job requires full time travel throughout Texas (with most weekends off). We need someone who can manage a book of work, independently and effectively, including as many as 10+ jobs/locations at a time.

We need someone who can run OSP underground jobs and jobs with mixed underground/aerial. The work includes long haul, laterals to towers and businesses, and tower site horizontal work. Much of the work is rural or through small towns. There are occasional data centers or city jobs. Work includes bore, trench, saw, plow, fiber blowing, fiber pulling, placement of new poles, and strand/lash. There is occasional inside plant work.

The right person will have extensive experience with underground and aerial construction, including extensive rock experience. They will be a problem-solver who is knowledgeable enough to make smart calls in the field. They will be able to manage and schedule crews efficiently/effectively and will understand how to match the right crews to the work at hand. We need someone who can be a strong negotiator with crews and maintain margins and control payouts and keep schedules. We need someone with the wisdom to anticipate and avoid problems. We need someone who can resolve obstacles as they arise and keep jobs moving forward. We need someone who can effectively close out jobs and leave jobsites fully buttoned up.

Computer proficiency, including basic Excel, is required.

Strong communications skills, including the ability to work with our customers' project managers is essential. You must have extensive experience working with TxDOT and City personnel. The right person will be able to understand/interpret TxDOT and City permits in detail and will enforce ROW/City requirements effectively and avoid complaints/fines.

Experience working at ATC, SBA, and CC tower sites is helpful.

This is not a windshield job. The right person will be able to get down, and will not be above getting into manholes or helping with materials/equipment and will spend most of their time outside their vehicle when onsite.

You must enforce safety best-practices and must be able to identify and anticipate safety concerns.

You must be highly organized and meticulous with first class paperwork/reporting skills and habits.
