• 3-6 years experience or equivalent skill level performing fiber optic splicing, cable work, troubleshooting and same experience or equivalent skill level with various splicing machines, OTDR’s, splicing specialty tools and misc. test equipment

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Cable Technician does fiber optic splicing along with testing and installation of fiber optic lines.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Frequently lift/carry 10-50 Lbs
• Often lift/carry 51-100+ Lbs
• Often push/pull 12-100 Lbs
• Wears appropriate safety apparel and is aware of and follows all established safety practices and procedures.
• Loads necessary tools, material and equipment on company vehicles and drives or rides to work locations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, climbing and driving
• When working on site, will be required to wear common protective gear such as, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats and safety boots.
• Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer and fall weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• 3-6 years experience or equivalent skill level performing fiber optic splicing, cable work, troubleshooting and same experience or equivalent skill level with various splicing machines, OTDR’s, splicing specialty tools and misc. test equipment
