Qualifications

Must have at least 2 years of underground construction experience. Must have at least 2 years of experience of operating directional drills, Ditch Witch or Vermeer. Must be able to work in Houston weather conditions. Must have clean background check, driving record and be able to pass drug test. Must have work authorization in the US.

Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to)

Operate Ditch Witch JT10 Directional Drill to install of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cable
Ensures safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.
Inspects the work that is in progress to ensure that the workmanship conforms to specifications.
Analyze Jobsite for possible hazards before commencing work
Being able to effectively communicate with locating companies, other contractors, and any other persons working on the job-site
Conduct inspections on equipment, and ensure that it is appropriately cared for
Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are always taken
Ensure that Production Reports are filled out correctly and submitted daily
Being able to read blue prints
Assisting in loading & unloading of equipment and supplies needed to complete the job.
Hand digging with shovels, post hole diggers, jackhammer, and picks.
Place conduit / cable, or pipe in trenches, splice conduit sections, install couplers, place anchors, pedestals, ground boxes, etc. to complete construction tasks.
Maintain and clean, as well as inspect the machinery.
Ensure that crew truck is kept in good order, and properly stocked
Ability to travel as needed, staying in hotels
Always wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) including, safety vest, hard-hat, protective eyewear, gloves, ear plugs, dust mask, and steel toed boots.
Ensure that safety cones, lights, and appropriate vehicle flagging, and lane closure precautions are met.
Hand load rods.
Prepare tooling for product install.
Check oil level, tire pressure, other fluids (including hydraulic), grease points on all equipment and vehicles daily
Organize tools, toolbox, trailer and replenish stock daily for preparation.
Ensure work zone and equipment is free of garbage and debris
Physical Requirements

Available to work overtime or at night when required.
Willing & able to work in all types of climates, temperatures, seasons, weather, and topography as required.
Be able & willing to perform all physical tasks required throughout the work day.
Lift weights up to 60lbs.
Other Requirements

Be able to pass a drug test and have a clean driver’s record
Be able to pass a background check for last 7 years
Minimum of 2 years of Horizontal Directional Drill operating experience
Minimum of 2 years of Utility construction experience
Work authorization in the US
