Pay rate: $50 Hr - 40 hours a week - Long term contract

Qualifications

Have a good working knowledge of POTS and DSL as they pertain to plant ( CO LEN to Dmarc). Be able to troubleshoot and repair copper plant. Would need the use of a bucket truck. (Cable TV experience would be nice but no necessary)Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Requirements

Bucket truck needed. Individuals must have a valid driver’s license. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather. Ability to climb and work at elevations (e. g. from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet.

Job Description

Copper:
Rearranging all outside plant facilities (i.e.: cable throws)
Perform functions including splicing, testing (including pair continuity), count verification, of all types, sizes and gauges of existing and or newly constructed Plastic Insulated Conductors (PIC) and Paper/Pulp Insulated, color-coded and non-color coded cables, which's includes but not limited to: Ability to fully work with all underground (Manhole) types of cable facilities.
Placing and testing pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable.
Place, splice and test all types and sizes of load coils, cross connect cabinets, and building entrance protectors.
Possess enough skill level to effectively place pressure system buffering equipment, when required.
Rearranging all outside plant facilities (i.e.: cable throws). Pair identification and tagging (tone or battery method).
Splicing, test and acceptance of T-carrier routes for digital concentrators and toll facilities.
Test and acceptance of Special Service/Design Services (digital carrier units, analog and digital circuits).
Read, comprehend, and correct information on cable prints and throw sheets
Preparation of all job-related work reports (time sheets, corrected cable plans and throw sheets, material sheets.)

Fiber NOT NEEDED but a plus:
Ability to prep and splice fiber via mechanical fusion methods
Ability to splice large count fibers via tube or ribbon method
Ability to access the fiber optic splicer enclosure and splice the necessary fibers directly from a ladder
Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier and Fiber Scope
Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cable ranging from single fiber to 288 count as well as perform ring cut when needed
Perform testing and turn-ups of subscriber drops in both inside and outside plant environment
Perform power meter testing
Experience:
Knowledge of operating and using both copper and fiber optic splice equipment
Knowledge of fiber optic theory which includes fiber loss, connector types and the different types of fibers
