H&M is currently seeking Equipment Operators/ Excavators for our Telecom program operating out of Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

This position reports to the Construction Project Manager. The position is located at the Detroit, Michigan office.
An Equipment Operator will operate various pieces of equipment such as Bull Dozier, Trencher, Directional Drill, Excavator, and Backhoe. Equipment is used to excavate, grade, move dirt, gravel or other materials. Operator may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans.


Major Job Elements
• Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.
• May be required to operate various pieces of equipment as needed.
• Provides support for crews during all phases of construction activity.
• Reads and interprets plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.
Qualifications
• If not already a union member, then union membership will be required.
• Ability to travel throughout multiple states as needed is required.
• Previous experience in construction for utilities.
• Current valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for up to the past 5 years is required.
• CDL required.
• Must be able to perform heavy physical work, and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• This position requires significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding.
• Work in an all-weather environment is required.
• Must be able to lift heavy material.
• NO relocation or per diem are available for these positions.
