Job Description and Responsibilities :
The Coax Splicing Technician 3 establishes communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Prepare installation diagrams
Ability to splice active and passive devices
Plan network splicing by studying customer orders, plans manuals and technical specifications
Troubleshoot network for noise and ingress
Rough balance amplifier and set node outputs
Utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier and Fiber Scope
Operate and utilize meter to sweep and balance the network
Order and gather equipment, supplies, materials and tools, assessing installation site
Requirements :
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate plus 4 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
1-2 years of telecommunication construction experience; cable experience preferred
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot design plans as needed to support project
Ability to read and understand maps, drawings and diagrams for project build process
Technical Skills:
Ability to utilize MS Excel or equivalent to document and retrieve splice information
Proven knowledge and training on use of Sweep equipment
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather
Ability to climb and work at elevations (e. g. from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
Ability to work in confined spaces (e. g. attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)
