Job Description and Responsibilities :
The role of the Director of Fleet is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to the highest quality standards, stringent deadlines and within budget. The Fleet Director will manage the day to day activities relating to the fleet and the maintenance of the vehicles in accordance to plans and specifications. This includes contributing to key decisions around purchasing, hiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. This position oversees, organizes and maintains a company fleet of 1200+ vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops, maintains and executes comprehensive programs, policies and procedures concerning vehicle acquisition, maintenance and disposal strategy
Establishes fleet management continuous improvement performance metrics, sets goals and monitors progress
Leads efficient and cost effective corporate-wide fleet preventative maintenance and repair program
Identifies, evaluates and implements alternative transportation solutions based on cost, service and regulatory impacts
Develops creative Fleet programs to improve operational performance of user groups
Ensures compliance with local, state and federal requirements, licensing, registration and titling, warranty, parts acquisition, recalls and other fleet related issues as they arise
Develops and executes fleet capital and operating budgets
Generate reports, update pertinent spreadsheets and e-mail copies used for bill processing and tracking of various data on a weekly basis
Monitor, evaluate and determine priority of vehicle maintenance, servicing and repair projects
Audit processes such as CAP cost and mileage
Coordinating with Project Managers all vehicles to be transferred
Oversees and approves administrative processing of paperwork required in the acquisition or disposal of equipment (e.g., title, registration, license, etc.)
Ensure compliance with all DOT Regulations and all internal requirements

Relevant work experience in fleet or related industry preferred
Management of functions and activities related to the procurement, servicing, operation, maintenance and repair of vehicles
Knowledgeable in the practices and procedures involved in researching, comparing and purchasing vehicles, equipment and supplies
OSHA regulations to establish safety policies and procedures for fleet service operations
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Must be extremely detail-oriented
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
Must possess excellent communication, coaching, and leadership skills, as well as have the ability to influence and make decisions by applying independent judgment
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to analyze and compile information from various sources to make decisions or prepare reports
Must have familiarity with DOT regulations, governing the use of Commercial Vehicles, as well as strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of vehicle systems, components and design characteristics
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
