Telecom and Utility Construction Industry, with a large and diverse customer
base reaching from coast to coast. Our six divisional offices support
operations in most major markets in our North American Foot-print.
Job Description and Responsibilities :
The Operations/Director is responsible for all NX Utilities operational activities. This position will be responsible for forecasting staff needs and hiring, statistical process control and analytical and financial reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Management of client relationship(s), warehouse/logistics multi -site operations, and client and operational market needs
Manage the construction, underground, and/or engineering operations and schedules of our customer’s network
Managing project and vendor management including selection, contract, and negotiation processes, production tracking and reporting, and project closeout and retainage release
Work with support staff to develop construction schedules, monitor production, and ensure adherence to customer schedule/specifications
Oversight of overall performance, quality, and production levels of assigned markets
Responsible for staffing forecast, directing, placement and replenishment of staff to meet the client’s production requirements
Develop strategies and tactics for improving operation efficiencies while improving service levels, employee retention and operational costs
Provide leadership and assume responsibility for the functional and financial control including development and management of monthly/quarterly and annual budgets
Act as a liaison to Corporate Shared Services, coordinate communication and resolutions to problems and concerns within the operations
Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and maintains effective internal control
All other duties as required
Requirements :
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or similar field or 5-10 years industry experience preferred and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
Experience in forecasting and budgeting
5 to 10 years of Operations Management experience; specifically, management of large scale OSP projects
Proven experience coordinating work schedules in a dynamic environment to meet intermediateand completion milestones
Extensive knowledge of the cable and telecommunications industry including experience with underground utilities, placement and routing of those types of utilities/fiber optic, and cable tv pathways/ aerial and MDU
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of network drawings, route maps and scopes of work interpreting fiber test results and auditing projects for compliance with scopes of work
Proficient in Microsoft office products
Soft Skills:
Highly organized and detail orientated
Flexibility and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Above average decision making and problem solving skills
Leadership and negotiation, conflict management, analytical and problem solving capabilities, and strong customer orientation
Strong business minded consultative approach with focus on profitability and margin

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions
Travel up to 100% of the time, including short notice travel. Travel may include local site travel or national travel depending on training needs
Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day
Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day
