Job Description
Telecommunications construction Laborer
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (include but are not limited to)
Performs general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
Ability to read and understand work orders
Basic knowledge of cable locating, ability to locate underground cable.
Ability to operate various types of trucks and equipment
Install underground telecommunications cabling
Flagging traffic, setup safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers
Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations and policies
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Essential Physical Requirements include
Hand dig holes and trenches with a shovel and other hand tools
Climb into and out of equipment (cars, trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc)
Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
Repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder
Work in congested and remote areas
Work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time
Must be able to work in variable heights/depths
Must be able to lift/carry up to 50+ pounds
Reach, bend, stoop while performing work
Maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
Work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat and other safety equipment as needed
Hours/Schedules are determined based on work location and customer needs and in compliance with any regulations; on average - must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week.
